The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, I was a junior in college when my dad died. Came home for Christmas to find that his sister had changed all the family plans saying "it's too much to get together on Christmas Day."

I threw a fit, so Mom had everyone to our house. It's still one of my favorite memories, and my dad would've loved it.

That IS quirky. But cool, in a slightly twisted way. ;-)

You know, I've had about all I can take of Rasputin coming in during my lunch hour just to eye my red Swingline stapler...

That's a good feeling, isn't it? :-)

The weather just got really cold...the cold front that's been sweeping you finally just got to us, within the last half hour. There is ice forming on the tree in the front yard and one of our bulbs on the Christmas lights has an icecycle hanging from it.

Supposed to get down into the teens.

And it's still raining.

Osage just called to say his power's out....I don't think he expects it to come back on until tomorrow and it's supposed to be single digits tonight. They've got the fire going and some nice warm furry pets around so they'll be all right. He 's having midday Hobbit Hole withdrawal.

I can't imagine how horrible that would be - I am so thankful my parents are young and healthy, but you never know when something can happen. Even when I'm not around, my family is the focal point of my life...

That's what I'm afraid of for here...everything is just drenched and they were actually hoping it would dry up a bit before the cold front got here. It didn't and it's the powerlines I'm worried about.

We have our gas stove heater out in the shop, you know...where you parked your car? If worst comes to worst...that's where we'll go.

I made sure I had a good supply of that hazelnut chocolate spread last night!

;-)

Right now we're getting freezing drizzle. The weather weenies say it's supposed to change over to snow this afternoon.

Our forecast says we're gonna get freezing rain. Ok. The Winter weather advisory says we're going to get sleet and freezing rain, watch for snow on bridges and overpasses.

What on God's green earth does that mean? It's gonna sleet and snow everywhere except bridges and overpasses and there will be snow there?

Bridges and overpasses will freeze first so be careful driving on them.

I'm in for the day! I told Steve to drop by Aldis and get some butter...I forgot that last night and we're out.

Other than that...I've got my "cholesterol medicine" and popcorn and soda...I'm set.

Ok, people, my sister is flying Pit-Chicago-England tomorrow. Please pray that Chicago is ok when she arrives so she doesn't miss her flight!

Well, that answers that question...

I went out to get a soda and it sounded like the house was being rained on with sand...so that's freezing rain. Looked out the window and there's snow flurries too! It's the freezing rain that's accumulating though.
