The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

When we get together for ShootMoot, we really ought to try to get a good picture taken of all of us...as many of us as possible. That way, when someone says "What is a Hobbit Hole" I can say "WE are the Hobbit Hole!"

It would be a nice picture to put in with our knives...we could even sign something and photocopy it and send it along with each knife. I doubt anyone would care that it's photocopied...

Free lunch? Nope, we're paying for her lunch. And picking her up. And getting to hear her whine about how little money she has.

I know that's true, but it's because she's an impulse buyer who expects the government to take care of her, has to be forced to keep health insurance (it costs less than mine). And she thinks everyone on Earth has a deep, passionate interest in tv shows like "The West Wing".

Heh...that was one of the funniest moments at Entmoot. We were workin' on the money tree for the shower and needed to cut string..."anybody got a pocket knife?"

Mwahaha... I'm probably driving, if I get there, so knife-travel is possible.

All right, we're going to Panera. She'll order something hideously expensive but I'll just get some sourdough bread.

It's funny for me because I've seen the pics from that, and I feel like I was already there!

Good times!

Yep... the group photo is good. In most of the ad-hoc groups, someone is missing, so it takes a montage to show everyone. We have a couch picture of you too!

She votes Republican, at least at the national level, but she laps up the liberal shows and of course spouts off their views without even thinking.

Of course I'm seriously bothered that she's joined the ranks of greedy seniors...
