The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yep. They still have the corps. When we were at Homecoming wife saw a couple of former students. One is a freshman in the corps.

Later folks. I'm gonna go watch the game.

I'll be back later to either cry or celebrate.

Doll! We always believe you!

I know you do, and I appreciate that...but it's one of the reasons I was so hesitant to post that thread about Andy...and why I offered as much info as I could. I want to be as open and truthful as possible. Without giving out too much of the family's personal info online, of course.

You could lie and probably get onto a jury...

I got rejected for my one jury duty. They didn't even call us for questioning, the people decided to settle. And I was glad because I got paid by the hour... and had classes. Someday I'd love to do jury duty, though.

Well, there are ways to lie without directly lying. Just, you know, don't mention the little Marine thing. Or the homeschool gun safety thing. Play up the substitute teacher role...

That call WRT the dog really *does* sound creepy.

Maybe instead of telling her that the owner was found... just say that the dog got out and didn't come back.

Good evening!

I've had a decent amount of Baileys this evening. Maybe Mondays aren't allllll bad.

I should be writing. But right now, I hate my characters. On the other hand, perhaps that means I should start writing some gralloching into the plot...

Odds are she won't even show, if she isn't legit, and I don't think she is.

I should be writing, too, but I'm not in the mood.

Dad and sisters and I went for some Hibachi food (Japanese table-side cooking. Steak bits. Yum). I ate the whole thing with chopsticks which is, for me, an achievement.

hehehe... not if you wanna get seated. :-)

I was surprised at the group that got seated for the jury I was on. On the whole it was a pretty good jury. Lotsa smart people. One guy was even a retired cop-- he said he never thought he'd get on.

The deliberations were also really high quality discussion. We only took three hours, and we were all pretty much for guilty from the start, but we still took it very seriously and reviewed the whole trial and ispected all the evidence... and made *sure* that we all *really* thought she done it.

It really did a lot of good for my confidence in the system.

Mmm...sounds good. We don't have any Japanese restaurants locally...closest is about an hour and a half away.

We have the Thai place, which is good but a little pricey, and several Chinese places, which are dreadful. They get condemned regularly.
