EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -(AP) Eli Manning's best game as a pro wasn't enough to stop Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Roethlisberger threw for a career best 316 yards and threw four straight passes to set up Jerome Bettis' game winning 1 yard run with 4:57 left in the game, leading the Steelers to a 33-30 come from behind win over the New York Giants.

I thought Bettis was their best back.
Thanks! It was pretty good, wasn't it.
Bettis is 'The Man' now. Staley is done. Burress will be back, but it will be a game or two before he's better, if he is indeed healthy. But El is getting better and more confident by the game.
BTW, I must admit to something everybody missed (but one caller to a call-in show after the game).
*******
The Steeler TD when Ben quickly shoveled the ball to El and then El quickly shoveled the ball for a TD........... if you ever see that play again you will see that that TD play of ours had TWO forward passes. It should have been called back and we should have been penalized! Oh well.

LOL. See the end of post # 43. You was robbed........... but we were laying low today.
He is.
Staley can't do it by himself either, IMO.
But Cowher knows how to use the two of them together. Bettis has been getting the ball in first and goal situations, and has been very effective.
Duce is smaller, but is more effective for short passes and running outside.
IMO, when Duce comes back, Cowher should keep using Bettis as primary back. Jerome has earned it.
The kid played a good game and so did his team, BUT, pittsburg will always be judged by the lie they live with, that of "The Immaculate Reception," known better on the west coast as it's proper name, " Immaculate Deception." They are only playing well now because they think enough time has passed and everyone has forgotten their "LIE." It hasen't!!!!!!!!!! There are those of us that have that play TAPED and will PROVE at any time, the LIE of PITTSBURG. Not really pardner, just kidding but I can still see they entire play remember where I was sitting, who was there. I still eat and sleep the Raiders, (you can't get off them, what ever tean they happen to be.) God Bless, KennyBob
I thought it was a handoff to El and then he shoveled it forward?
You guys are forgetting about Verron Haynes who is a great change of pace for the other two. And also Willie Parker could provide some key plays in the last few games as he runs a 40 in 4.2 seconds and is probable the best back we have to get it outside. I admit to being down on the Bus the last year or so and right now I'm thinking he's somehow linked to BALCO. HE'S BEEN RUNNING WILD!
John Madden, is that YOU!?!?!?
Tex, you need to let go of this. Franco caught that ball. Get on with your life now...
Madden would spell Pittsburgh correctly ;)
Oh, I'm sorry...is that the Steel Curtain D out there?? Are we in a time warp?? I've never seen bigger paper tigers than the '04 Pittsburgh Steelers. WOW...Big Ben threw for all of 316 yds--so impressive--and for the first time ever too. The championship test for the Colts is gonna be against New England...the game against Pittsburgh (if there is one) will be a coronation.
It was a lateral to El !!
The Stillers played with half their team tied behind their back, just to make it fair.
You sound like a bitter Browns fan. Don't worry maybe next year they'll win more than five games.
Somebody is cranky...so how much did you lose on the game?
It was supposed to be a lateral to El (backwards or sideways) but, it went forward. It was stone illegal.
I saw the Patriots do that to the Steelers in the playoff game on a kickoff (or interception) return where they lateraled two yards forward. I hope you get to see it again. I could not believe that it wasn't challenged.
Just a confident Colts fan. But since you brought up bitterness---I do seem to remember Kordell stepping out of bounds before he caught that TD pass back in 95'---so I probably do have some in reserve. Thank God they were able to eek out a game against the 9-7 Colts that year--or Cowher would be considered even more of a post-season choker than he already is. If the Chargers play the Steelers it should be a hoot--Marty vs. Bill---two peas in a pod
