VANITY: I Closed On My House! Thank You, Free Republic!
me | 18 Dec 2004 | tiamat

Posted on 12/18/2004 11:14:11 AM PST by tiamat

I finally managed to close on, and sell my old house!

As many ( too many) people on FR know, I was about frantic with worry over this for months.

Many, many FRiends gave me comfort, prayer, wise advice, the occasional giggle, and a shoulder to moan on.

(Thanks, you guys. I would not have made it without the Canteen and the Undead Thrread!)

It's been a strange and scary year, and now I am done with the mayhem, just in time for Christmas!

THANK YOU ALL!

That Redd Skelton DVD sounds neat!--he's funny :)

Yes his stuff is hilarious, and I know hubby loves his schtick. but the really neat part of it was that it had been reduced and only cost me a dollar!!!! (yup, I'm cheap)

Sorry about that - my internet decided it wanted to disconnect me.

I can't remember which Dirty Harry movie is which - "Sudden Impact" is the first one, right?

Anytime you can get a Christmas present for a dollar you're doing alright, LOL! The only way to save more money on presents would be to do like the Grinch and steal people's presents and then give them back to them :)

My favorite way of giving a gift is just like what happened last week. hubby came into me and said "Thanks for my new jacket" - he had bought a jacket on line and said it was my Christmas preseny to him :)

Here's the list:

The Dirty Harry series

Dirty Harry (1971)

Magnum Force (1973)

The Enforcer (1976)

Sudden Impact (1983)

The Dead Pool (1988)

The first one is where he tries to catch a "Zodiac Killer" type of sniper serial killer. Magnum Force has him trying to solve vigilante killings committed by a group of rogue cops (led by David Soul from Starsky and Hutch) who see him as a role model. In The Enforcer he teams up with Tyne Daley (from Cagney and Lacey and Judging Amy) to stop a terrorist group similar to the Symbionese Liberation Army that kidnapped Patty Hearst. Sudden Impact is the one where he's hunting a gang that raped Sandra Locke's character. In Dead Pool there's a pool betting on the odds of celebrities from a list to be killed, and Harry's on the list.

LOL! How'd you get him to do that?!!! If only I could get people I have to buy presents for to do that I'd save *lots* of money! :-)

I didn't get him to do anything. He found a leather jacket he liked on some website and just ordered it.

It makes no nevermind to me. He's the guy bringing home the paycheck, I'm the stay-at-home-mom, so I would have had to get the money from him to buy it any way.

You have that?--LOL!

Whew--just finished addressing all my Christmas cards! I *think* I've got all my preparations done before the relatives arrive now.

That's a very efficient method of Christmas shopping, LOL! My brother just asks us to give him money because no one can figure out what he wants anyway :)

My husband jokes about having the dream wife - one who hates spending money!!!!

Christmas changed drastically for us when we became parents. I used to always buy him some tool or another, or something for his tools. 2 years ago a found him a tool box that was a father/child decorating project - it came with stickers and enamel paints!!!!

I'm an easy person to get a gift for - a kooky kitchen gadget or new cookbook makes me happy!!!!

LOL!

That father/child toolbox sounds nifty! I often get my Dad something tool-related. This year he wanted a multi-angle adjustable wrench. I think I'd be lost trying to figure out kitchen stuff to get, LOL! My Mom likes mysteries so I often get her a novel. This year (at tiamat's suggestion--thanks, tiamat!) I got her Lindsey Davis' Silver Pigs, about a detective living in the Roman Empire. My younger brother has tastes in movies similar to mine so he's easy to get stuff for. My youngest brother, nobody can figure out what he wants so we have to have him give us a list, LOL!

I found the toolbox in sears, of all places (on a discount shelf - I told you I was cheap).

A friend and I are going shopping Wednesday morning and I get to go to my favorite discount book store. I've been known to buy over $200 worth of books in there and get change from a $20!!!! I love giving books as gifts.

I love giving books as gifts.

Me too, LOL! I usually prefer to give books as gifts--I like to shop at the bookstore because then I can usually get something for everyone at once! :-) Actually in previous years I've gotten books as gifts so many times that this year I deliberately restrained myself so as to do something different! So I only got a book for my Mom this time (since she reads the most in the family, besides me) but made a point to get non-book presents for everyone else. But my own wish list was mostly books, LOL!

Sorry I left. I forgot to eat lunch today. Lost track of time. That's a big mistake on my part since I didn't have much of a breakfast - I got all dizzy. So I ate something and layed down. I watched "When Harry Met Sally." I hadn't seen that before, and one of my friends wanted me to watch it. It's a pretty good movie, if you like the romance stuff. ;-)

And I don't have much spare time, actually. I try to make some every now and again, though. My spare time and relaxation usually comes when I do dumb things like not eat and I'm forced to rest.

I hate to post and run - but I'm going to return the movie and I need to get something to eat. I don't feel like cooking anymore, and I'm getting used to sitting in restaurants alone, so I'm gonna get out for a while. I'll be back in a little while. :-)
