Picture problem on computer. (Vanity)
12/15/2004 | PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain

Posted on 12/15/2004 1:31:27 PM PST by PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain

I spent most of the day cleaning out my putter, Ad-Aware SE, SpyBot, Spyware Blaster, Norton.

I also added Firefox browser and its all running fast and smooth, but...any pictures that show up on the threads are out of focus and grainy.

I know I probably quarantined something I should not have, but I don't know where to go from here to fix it.

Anybody out there have any ideas?

Thanks

BigMack

It needs to be set to 16M at least. 256 colors is too few for jpgs to show up correctly.

Ok, I'll set it at that, it will have to reboot...be back in a few to let you know if it worked.

Does the fuzzy picture look like this? It must be the dreaded Kiss virus! Gargle, rinse, repeat!

How do yo post a picture. I am still new.

Using HTML (there are many tutorials on the net).

Example:
<img src="http://tinypic.com/kx45d" width=185 height=270>

Gives you this:

If your computer is dirty, which I think it is, you need to wash it. I prefer the shower for full ATX cases.

I put Firefox on my puter the other day and lost picture quality.Firefox was so nice that I hadn't even tried to find the problem yet.

Changing to 16 bit just now fixed me right up.

Thanks,Prime Choice.You saved me a little search time. :)

C'mon you people! A fellow Freeper needs our help, and you're just giving him a hard time! Here is a calibration photo for you. When this image is clear, everything is as it should be.

height and width are optional but sometimes makes it look nicer and adds page loading.

ALL YOUR GRAINY JPEGS ARE BELONG TO US!

Seriesly though...depending on the kind of video card you have, Go to Control Panel/Display and you should be able to change your color quality setting (thats what its called in XP...its called Colors in Win 2000) from 256 colors to 16 bit or 32 bit. If 16 colors and 256 colors are the only selections...first reboot...if it persists...then re-install your video drivers.

As I recall, without height & width being defined in the IMG tag, the image(s) must load before anything is displayed, which sucks for people on dial-up.

If you have dial -up and are using one of the accelerators some ISP's have now they make the hook up faster by vutting down on the looks of the pictures.

Actually, a default region is reserved as the page loads. That is what causes the page to "jerk" as each image is loaded one-by-one and the proper formatting is determined ... again and again for a page (or a thread on FR) reformats over and over ...
