Why, hello ladies! Thanks for askin'! Nope, we won't be having Thanksgiving at my house this year, we're going over to my husband's sister's motherinlaw's home. I called to ask her what I could bring, and she really didn't need any food, so asked for dessert wine. I can handle that.

It's just as well - we've had a minor disaster with the carpet in the dining room, and it's not going to get fixed for a little bit yet. We're ripping it up and putting in rosewood floors in the dining room and living room, but that installation isn't actually going to begin until January.

The appliance installation in the kitchen has been done for several months, but it's taken awhile to get our friend, who's doing to the cabinet work, to get the reconfiguration of the cabinets done. Now that it is done, I can get some bids for the granite counter tops. Because we had to do some cutting and ripping of the original tile counter tops where the cook top was located in order to put in the slide-in range, there is some ugliness there that won't be fixed until we get the new counter tops. And backsplashes. I found a place in Danville that has wonderful products and designs for backsplashes.

This week I'm order plantation shutters for the living room and dining room so I can finally tear down the horrendously hideous drapes that were there when we moved in. Did I mention that they're ugly? And, they attrack cat hair like you wouldn't believe. At least shutters will be easier to clean.

Hubby has put in our winter vegetable garden, and everything is growing well. We've had sunny days in the 60's, but not much rain, so we've had to water. I've got some bulbs to get into the ground this week - things like narcissus, daffodils, and crocus. The tulip bulbs have been in the refrigerator long enough now that I can plant them. It doesn't get cold enough here to plant tulips without having them spend a couple of months in the refrigerator first!

You will love those rosewood floors. I have a friend who has them.

The kitchen is going well. Glad you don't have to use it this year. :) You deserve a break.

What are you thinking of for your back splash?

Have you seen the pictures of Grans new house?

What's going on the floor?
Real Rosewood would cost more than most cars.

Wow, good to see you and what a great post. :) It sounds like you're going to have a relaxing, no-fuss Thanksgiving. Thats wonderful.

I can't wait to see photos of your new rosewood flooring. I really like that and I just love the look of granite counter tops, I'm a little partial to the black ones and depending on the cabinet finish brown is mighty handsome, too. Have you decided on the color yet ?

You missed our discussion yesterday about the merits of plantaion shutters, but we all agreed, we loved them :)

For sure! We are so happy with ours. Indestructible even when beasts attack.

I have planted any bulbs yet. I've been too lazy. You just fired me up. :)
