We have down hill here........bumps not mountains....Oh, they call them mountains....I know better.....

LL won't downhill anymore but we still cross country a lot, which is a great way to make peace with winter, not to mention a lot of fun.

We're headed to Utah in a couple of weeks to downhill with our 3 sons.

Wow- that'll be fun. I've skiied Utah a number of times - Alta and Snowbird are two areas that I remember. If you take the tram to the top at snowbird on a sunny day, the view is unbelievable. It's like you are on top of the world. Those are some big mountains.

Deer Valley, Park City, the Canyons are the places we'll be at. Haven't been to Utah to ski and looking forward to it.

FOFL ... a lot of Southern girls think the four seasons are: Recruiting, Spring Training, Practice, and Football...

This year the White House is decorated in snow white, cranberry red and gold but they haven't posted all the photos on the White House website yet. I'm guessing they're waiting until the White House Christmas special airs on HGTV this Sunday night. Still I found a few photos ....

This year's theme is "A Season of Merriment and Melody" — honoring holiday musical traditions. In the Blue Room, the official White House Christmas tree — an 18 1/2 foot Noble Fir from Washington state — is adorned with jewel-hued drums, violins, tambourines and even a tiny piano alongside red and gold balls. The tree was donated by John and Carol Tillman of Rochester, Washington. The Tillmans, who stayed in DC this week to help decorate the tree with 350 hand-painted ornaments shaped like musical instruments, also provided trees for the Oval Office and Camp David.

I was thrilled to see these beautiful and heavily flocked tress in the East Room... Months ago I started planning to have flocked trees and decorations this year.

The traditional gingerbread replica of the White House was created by the new head pastry chef and is in keeping with the musical theme. He used sheets of gingerbread and 150 pounds of chocolate, including chocolate miniatures of the Marine Corps band on the rooftop, and five vignettes of songs such as "Frosty the Snowman," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Toyland" and all feature Barney playing with the Bushes' pet cat, Willie. (The cat, originally called India, was rechristened in 2001 after protests from India's ruling party.)

It took more than 51 volunteers working practically around the clock since Thanksgiving to prepare and hang the 245 wreaths, 221 bows, 660 feet of garland and hundreds of ornaments on the 41 White House Christmas trees. Approximately 44,000 lucky tourists in groups of 10 or more will get to view the decorations and another 6,500 people have been invited to the White House for receptions during the holiday season.
