This is my take....The movie is well made, incredible animation....(& I 2nd that from my son's point of view too, he's a 3D animation artist)...
...the character development was quite good, the storyline good....
..but it was very very intense, and I still think it's not for the whole family.
I think very young children.....4,5,6 or so, and even some immature older ones....might find dialogue of ...
..."You children stay together...(as the mom runs to find their missing dad)---
..there are people out there who will kill you...
..I also objected to hearing several times....
..."Oh my G-d".....
I've never heard that in a kids movie before!
I took my daugher to see Song of the South...and she was in tears when the baby oysters...got eaten...!!!...Who knew!
...she also cried when ET couldn't get home!!!
This is a very intense movie, albeit animated, but has very mean villains with machine guns (who use them!)....and evil characters every bit as awful as Doc in Spiderman.....
That's my take!
Each child is different and I think parents have to make judgements based on knowing their child/children. Unfortunately, a lot of people just send their kids off to any movie that is billed as "for kids" without finding out anything about the movie ... and they don't bother to know their children either ... :-(
