SSQ and I watched a lot of PBS when we were first married. We got used to the various accents from all over Great Britain; Scotland, Ireland, Yorkshire, Wales, North Umberland, whatever!! "All Creatures Great and Small" was one that introduced some really THICK accents, and they were fun to hear.

Used to work for a british marine survey company, so I got to hear some really neat accents there as well.

Funny thing I discovered about the particular personalities that showed up in that office : the ENGLISH were the nicest, funniest, sweetest guys. There were two SCOTTISH contractors who had real pissy attitudes, especially towards me once they found out that I was the " Jill Friday" of the department. I recall one general meeting where we were all sitting there discussing their projects and one of them turned to my boss and asked "why she (meaning me) couldn't do the folding etc" for their project. My boss, a very nice gentleman from London, immediately jumped to my defense and told them that I was working on timely projects of my own, and my duties overrode theirs as far as folding maps was concerned.

They didn't like that too much.

If I had known about Jack Aubrey at the time, I would have declared my boss to be just like him.
