True story...
When George Allen came into office as Governor (1994), his constituent affairs office sent out a memo to all state agencies saying that all letters written for the Governor's signature should be in Romans 13 pt.
Rumor got started that there was religious significance. So a newspaper reporter did a story. His story started like this:
"When the Allen Administration officials stopped laughing..."
Romans 13:1
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
That's what folks in my office said too. But I still felt kinda foolish.
My ROTKEE didn't come again today. So tonite I'm watching TTTEE.
Meanwhile...
I've also done the thing where the lens slides out of place and ends up folded under the eyelid. 'Course by this time my eye is so irritated that I can't tell if the lens is still there or not.
Oh joy...
Ok, that's amusing!
And 13 point is much too big. I use 12 point for assignments I'm handing in, but everything gets created in 11 point, Microsoft Word print layout format.
What did you people who lives before word processors even do?
Pica or elite.
We went to public schools to learn how to use pens and pencils. ;-)
See, my mother never managed to motivate us to learn fancy handwriting. Printing's good enough for taking notes, anything else I type.
It's much more efficient. Plus I can read it.
We're starting the second disc. It's soooooo good.
Woah. The witch king is a bad***. Woah.
Merry's expanded role is just wonderful.
I'd love to see the pencil sketches, Rosie.
Pencil sketches are cool, for instance, Ingres is admired by many more for his pencil sketches than for his beautiful paintings.
So pencil sketches have been well respected for over 100 years now.
I have word count issues....
Just finished the chapter which is absolutely central to my story. It came out pretty well, for the first try, at least. But it's short, just under 3k. I expected it to clock in at 5k. Not sure that's enough, but I don't know... I don't want to pad it, after all.
Sigh, and these stupid patterns to memorize for tomororow's test? They're just killing me...
I just chopped mine into chapters pretty arbitrarily. Never checked word count, but I know they vary quite a bit in length. Oh well.
As I said, I have more trouble with making stuff longer than it should be, without enough action!
I'm also starting to have attachment issues. I've been feeling a little depressed all afternoon because I'm almost done. As Stephen said, "They grow up so fast, don't they?"
*sniff*
So...when do I get to read yours? Not until it's done, right?
If I get 'em and get 'em scanned in, I'll post 'em!
Stephen really hasn't had much in the way of formal art training. I'm of the opinion that he could be really good if he did. Question is...will he bother? He's totally obsessed with song writing right now, and admittedly is darned good at that, too.
I only *wish* I had such tough choices to make! ;-)
Careful...you want me to start off on another obsessed pen geek ramble?
I wuv my fountain pens...
Actually when I finish the next chapter, I will be at the halfway point - call it the "Han Solo is Frozen in Carbonite, Frodo's in the Tower, and Your Mother Wants to Know what Happened to her Car" moment of the story. Mwahaha. Anyway, what I was saying is that at that point I'd love to have you take a look.
I'm pretty much done on your story... man, I don't have many comments at all, but it's a very good children's story, I really think! Actually, with some gentle... ok, some really brutal editing, I think it might be publishable. Or at least, rejectable - we need to start collecting rejection slips, girl!
Times New Roman is an OK font, I guess...
But it's not...rounded enough. Or something. The letters are skinny, I think. And I just don't like it that much, and I'm not sure why!
Maybe it's just because it's everywhere, I dunno.
It's just something I can read onscreen for hours and hours at a time, which is the point. Probably there are other fonts, but TNR works for me.
