Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I don't think I've ever in life seen a corduroy shirt.
Yes, but only because Jen can't draw a circle...
Morning Corin, saw a Griswold House contender last night. Ranch style house, net lights covered the roof, yard had 8 animated lighted reindeer, sleigh, santa and a couple of other lighted things I wasn't sure of. House was outlined in red and green lights as were windows and door. Ditto for the porch and deck. Lighted candy canes along the driveway.
Sometimes a candle in the window is a good thing.
Territory Ahead sells them. Got several a few years. territoryahead.com if'n you're so inclined. Heading north this year?
Well at least there's a lot of kindling around now, in case I feel like we need a fire lit for warmth.
Most bowyers do have plenty of kindling laying around. :-)
I'm saving it for the one or two nights when a fire will feel good.
Ambiguous deliverers of joy....
We tried to take pictures of a griswold house the other day... old trailer with tacky plastic and inflatable figures... candy canes all over the yard, indoor glass ball ornaments on a twiggy apple tree out front... It looked more like yard debris than an organized display. But a photo just couldn't capture it.
I loved the overdone and unmatching displays on the street where I grew up.... especially when Dad would participate by just tossing our lights in a pile in the yard and pluggin' them in. :~D
Great idea!
What sunroom? Haven't heard from the jerks in almost a month.
I have tried taking pics before but you just can't get the entire scene with a camera.
I think you're dad had the right idea. Pure Genius.
It was his form of protest, or satire.... one of the two ;~D
Well, there isn't much sun this time of year. Maybe they headed south for the winter.
Yeah...well you'd think they'd at least call and say 'we're putting this off until spring." Can't decide whether to scrap the sunroom idea and spend the money on siding or getting bids from someone else.
Well, now he decorates with less humor and much indulgence himself... We are going up to the beach house today to do the decorations.
I'll take pictures! We decorate the water side for the benefit of the homes on Fox Island, as we like to see their lights across the water.
I vote for satire.
I have a friend who grew up in Memphis. She said one day, during the summer, her family decided that the day had been crummy and they needed a fire. They cranked the air conditioning down as cold as it would go and lit their fireplace! She said it made for a wonderful evening!
Dang!! I thought you'd already had it done! Hope they get back to you soon.
Sounds like BOTH! ;o)
