The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think we need another search party.

These bows that Osage put me on are extremely cool, been shooting arrows into palmetto trees today.

Here's Osage's friend Ferret with one.

Oh, no, and you're out of anime too!

I'm relaxing. Speech tomorrow, and then I'm free. I'll start intensely studying on Sunday, with my first test Wednesday morning. It feels so good...

One of these boring evenings (well...guess you don't have 'em like I do!) we should do a chat view of Emperor's New Groove.

Evening All. The bow is made of ash, American flat bow style. Sam is to be commended on getting a shooter the first time and repeating the same feat thrice more. Congrats. (raising chamomile tea in salute)

So, I gather that they don't always work out like ya think they might?

I guess that makes sense, you don't know if you have it right until its finished... sounds agonizing, in a satisfying sort of way. :-)

It was in Leawood: Yahooz at the corner of 119th and Roe.

We had appetizers - barbecued shrimp, some quesadilla things and a soft tortilla thing with mushrooms. I had a tenderloin (it was really tender) it came with cornbread, garlic mashed potatoes, and veggies. For dessert I had the cake (chocolate with chocolate frosting filling and chocolate on top) with cappuchino with chocolate biscotti.

Awesome! I imagine there are a few others we could recruit and force into watchin' it with us...

OK, in process of glueing another handle onto another stave!

Can't figure out whether to put nocks(?) on them for the arrows to rest on or not. They seem to shoot fine without.
I saw a pic of a guy with a thing on his wrist, wrapped around it, is that a necessity?

You're making me hungry, and I already ate. Wondering whether to make a sandwich or no.

You could say that. I've had a few "go south" as we say. Sometimes they crack, other times they literally explode (interesting experience), other times, just fold in. Repeat as often as necessary to get a shooter.

Then comes experimentation with different designs, different materials.

ps. next step, making your own arrows. Lots of materials and designs to try there. Then leatherwork for a quiver, tab and armguard and handle wrap.
