The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

g'nad; good thing you did there, helping the young man. 110 yds is a right goodly distance, the dang bead covers most of the deer. I'd need a scope to shoot at that range now days.

I do like quirky characters; one reason I love Con Air so much. I'll have to put Fargo on the Netflix list.

Good Morning ALL; nice breezy day, hopefully the falling leafs will deposit themselves in our neighbors yards. Will be heading to the hardware store in a bit, put some black stuff on the driveway/parking area. Bit of yard work to follow. LSA whipped up some super healthy blueberry muffins-wheat germ, oat bran, and oatmeal. hmmm good.

OT; might want to get a night light to keep the library from 'increasing'.

I don't think they've increased overnight. :) The Library of Alexandria is officially moved! I carted over the last of the books and that little bookcase this morning. I'm surfing from my new monitor...WooHoo! I can see! Getting ready to wipe down the bookcases that you brought over yesterday so I can get all the books off the floor.

Afternoon folks...

Came home from church with a headache. Treating it with caffeine. In other health news, thedoctor called in another antibiotic yesterday. I'm supposed to call back in 3-4 days if I'm not better.

At lunch today Jr. announces his big plan to save money for choir tour and missions trip next summer. Says he's gonna start packing his lunch and save his lunch money. Burst his bubble I did when I told him he'd have to buy the groceries for his lunch out of his allowance. In other Jr. news, wife is having second thoughts about the homeschooling. I know part of it is that until Nana is more mobile, she simply can't take on any more responsibility. We'll see what happens.

But there is good news. My blood pressure has been elevated since the wife told me she got an initial final tally from the contractor. She clarified it today. She was only $1,000 too high.

Just a while ago, while I was on my way to the library, I drove by a guy outside polishing his VW Beetle. I whipped over to the side of the road, parked and jumped out of the van and ran over to him and asked if I could look at his car! He was very nice and said "SURE!" He and his little daughter and I stood around and looked as his car and I asked a bunch of questions.

He paid $500.00 for it and it was out in a field near Stillwater.

He works on it continuously, the most expensive item he replaced was the engine...$1400.00 (but he got a bigger engine and thus paid more than he really had to.)

It was a 1961. Just darling. Painted red.

It had cream enterior.

He said it was a riot to drive and that his kids just love it.

That is great news, the library will soon be order and available for scholarly research. New flat screen monitor and cable internet, that rocks!!

Dang Corin - hope you can shake that bug thing soon. It's been several weeks hasn't it? Get well.

Now I've got a woodpecker beating on the house.

How do you fix woodpecker holes?

Those old VW bugs are pretty cool little cars. Seems that $1400 was about the cost of one new during the early 60's IRRC.

About six. But who's counting?

Thanks. Let's hope this round does it.

Well, that usually means there is food for the woodpecker, i.e. bugs of some sort. Removing the bugs seems to be in order. Don't now what they would be though.

Good evening!

Truly feel like a talentless hack today. Every year I tell myself I'm not goint to allow myself ANY delusions of grandeur with regards to my writing skillz, but every year I still WANT to be good at it and hit a total down-depressed-and-feelin'-useless stage after the first week or so.

Last year about this time, I quit. This year...I'm just tempted to. I'll give it a coupla days, I guess.
