The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yech.

"Fall Color Tour"? Nuts to that.

Nothing attractive about leaves turning from the color of life to the colors of urine and fire and eventually -- umm -- poo.

And then that white -- umm -- poo falls out of the sky...

Hehehe...well I had started brewing some compost in a plastic cat litter tub. I hated to see all those coffee grounds going to waste.

we could tell the area met two of the parameters for a jurisdictional wetlands, hydrology and hydric soils, couldn't tell about the hydrophitic vegetation though.

Say what?

The shock of what happened seemed to bring the fight to an end and John was later picking bits of glass out of his face with the help of the bar staff," the source added.

Yeah, well, a lamp in the face would tend to be a sobering experience!

I cannot imagine what would have happened if we would have had to invade Japan with ground troops without the dropping of the bombs. The losses on both sides would have been staggering.

SSQ's Dad was scheduled to be shipped out for ground action in Japan in the Fall of 45. Needless to say, he had no problems with the bombs or the surrender.
