The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I read the same article...it's what got me started eating them! They weren't very specific on the amount, so I just eat a cup. (We had just picked and froze 14lbs of them!) I also read on the web somewhere about the almonds and the black tea, so that's why I eat them.

You know I lowered my cholesterol from 264 to 168 in a month's time doing this???

I can't tell you how pleased as punch I am that Steve is home. I know I speak for the entire Hole when I say we are so proud of him!!

And the winner in the "What should Corin and the Mrs. Do for their Anniversary" contest is...

- Dinner at home
- Possible drinks/coffee (out)
- Thanksgiving grocery shopping at Walmart (it's now or never)

And we agreed to not do individual presents. We're buying a new cart for the TV. Solves the "where do we put the Christmas tree" and "We've got to take the control of the downstairs TV back from Nana" problem in a single step...

I just got back from Wally-world. Almost died. I figured 2pm on Monday was the last sane time... guess I should have gone last week.

But! I got the turkey. And the pan, since I may be the only female at this thing and don't intend to clean up. And rolls for baking. And... (where's the nun picture?) pecan pie materials...

Hi folks, in for a little while. The library will be closed most days the rest of this week.

Hi LCS, if you're still here! Too bad about that library, who do the librarians think they are, anyway?

Evening Ramius, how's it goin?
Brining a turkey at the moment. Seem to have bought a 16 pounder by mistake. Well, it fits in the smoker, so OK, I guess.
