They do make indoor floods! I don't know all the strengths available, my health food store carries them in 150 watts. That would really brighten up a room!!
And you'd be away from the weird situation with your sister. It sounds to me like it might be a good thing... when will you decide?
That's the thing. It's one of those decisions that timing is everything.
And, the way I mull tihngs over forever before actually doing anything, it'll probably be spring before the move is made.
Oh, and my sister would be going to, but she'd be in an entirely different department (IT). So the situation would not be so weird.
That is a lot of house for not a lot of money. I spent a summer framing houses in that general area about 5 years ago. I wonder if I work on that one... Probably not but it is a similar style to most of the ones we built.
Ah, I see.
I know mulling things over is good, but sometimes you just gotta takea leap of faith. If nothing raises red flags... if the school district is good and the family is encouraging you and you wouldn't be taking a pay cut... Heh, I'd do it but I don't have kids and stuff to worry about. So I'll just pray you figure out what to do.
Wouldn't that be the coolest thing if it turned out you helped to build it?
I'd get a pay increase if anything, so there's pretty much nothing but positives to the move.
But I'd be leaving a lot of family behind and that's what makes it more challenging.
But my long-term goals do NOT include being a sys admin. Oh, it's fun as a grad-school job, but I want to program.
Besides, I've learned several different revisions of Windows so far (started with 3.11, went to 95 and 98, fooled with ME for a while, now I'm on XP) and I doubt Longhorn will be that hard to learn.
Anyway I am against an OS that has to be configured to automatically mount the cd drive.
We could moot at Carrowinds!
I'm having video problems.... every file I play these days gets a lag between the audio and the video, which gets really, really annoying. And last night the computer just suddenly shut off in the middle of a file. I'm not sure whether it's the player (am going to download a universal player tonight) or something with my hardware.
That is a pretty minor thing to be against. A better way to look at it is that it is and OS that you can configure to NOT do that. Not that that might be useful but there are so many things that other OS's just don't let you do. for getting a programming job being mediocre in a bunch of OS's is better than being really good with just windows. Especially when 'mediocre' in this case means 'power user'
Oh, no, that's not the only problem I have with Unix systems... anyway, I am at "power user" stage, but I consider that less than mediocre.
"Mediocre" means "able to do one third of the things the other Unix guys can do". I honestly do not have time to get competent enough with Unix to do the job right.
Yes another most excellent selling point, Master Corin!
I've practically had a few fuzzy monitor moments already, and I'm only at about episode 18!
I'm gonna be in trouble, ain't I? ;-)
Off to a meeting!
See ya, Ruthy!
