The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That's right: "Gweedoh"

Maybe I should have the cat take a dislike to the toaster? But then the toaster might kill the cat and Miss Kitty will not be happy with me. :)

Well the toaster ditched the "stand-by-the-road-get-picked-up-and-driven-into-town approach. It ended up at the dump. so it said "the heck with that" and transformed himself into a flying wing under cover of darkness (lucky it was a new moon) and used its anti-grav propulsion to get to town. Guido is puzzled that there is no "Made in China" sticker on it.

I'm at 5000 words too, more or less. I wantet to be at 8000 (2000 words a day) so I'm making progress. It still sucks, but then my rough drafts always suck. I do a lot better after I've gotten everything down on paper and then put right.

Hi! Good to see you! I had such a good time with you guys the other night. We have to do that again soon :-) Everytime I have thought "well maybe this weekend" we end up having a birthday party or something. I am holding on to the venison and caribou for you and Mrs. Cree though ;-) I am going to freepmail you my phone number so Mrs. Cree can call me when she has a mind to.

Rough drafts are supposed to suck.

Good, I just hit 6k.

Yep, finally. The flue to the gas water heater is fixed so I don't have to worry (more) about carbon monoxide. I got one of those detectors...the kind with the digital readings so you can see what the level is. Now that the repair guy has finished his work in the attic, I need to get an insulation guy over.

OB and LSA are coming over on Saturday to help me move things. Yay! I'm working on moving books. Hopefully by the 13th I'll have the furniture moved (gonna hire Two Guys and a Truck to move the big stuff.)

OT, hadn't realized that Guido was fictional...You guys should set up a website for all this good stuff, so the rest of us can print it out, I need something else to read, but most of the stuff in the stores isn't so great.

I got to work on it some at work. Stupid turbo died and I couldn't run my samples. Now I can't decide where to go with the plot next. I could have the cat kill the toaster ...maybe at the end of the story. I think the toaster is going to be an appliances' rights activist. :)

Hi Trini, we had a very nice time also, was really fun. I think the XT ROTK is coming out soon.

Caught a sawfish about 10 feet yesterday, too bad the things are protected, had to throw it back.

Cool looking fish, aren't they. Here are 3 caught in 1928, when you were still allowed to keep 'em.

You're really going to have to post your story, you know...

Chapter 2 is done, Chapter 3 well started.

hello hello!!! Anybody home... ?? [sip]

Sam: those fish are proof that there is a God. Nothing that absurd could have come to be here by accident. It's also proof that the Lord has a little tipple of the wine from time to time. He was not sober when he stuck those parts together. :-)

You want it raw or cooked?

The toaster is part of an alien advanced scout fleet and they're supposed to study and report back to their creators only they haven't heard from home lately.

Anyway...the "toaster" didn't like its trip to the dump...it didn't like the way good or slightly damaged mechanisms are just thrown away.

Great. I've got a liberal toaster!

And a blender electrocuted a guy making a daiquiri...it was on the morning news. :)

And I haven't even gotten to the cheap DVD player yet.

I've got to get the dishes done and figure out where the story goes from here.

Good evening folks!

Wet snow coming down like crazy out there. I just got home from class / going to the house for dinner, and I had to drive slowly all the way back 'cause it's hard to see. Looks like we may get a little accumulation overnight, though of course it'll all melt tomorrow.

I like snow...but this slushy stuff is icky.

I killed it the longest, I think.

Maybe all the other NaNoers are off writing, like I'm pretending to be?
