The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Dad forgot to stop by and get my little sister, so I ended up running her home...and then spent the last little bit putting away everything from dinner and putting the remains of the turkey breast (the bones, I mean) into the crockpot with stuff to make stock. There was some dark meat and such left, so I think it will work OK, and I hated to waste anything!

I also have plenty of meat for lunches.

But now I'm tired and I don't feel at ALL like writing. I'm only 500 words behind schedule, so I think I'll live. I can catch up tomorrow.

LOTR, and HP, are both mandatory watches at my house.

Although, ( and I may get burned for this) I have yet to see ROTK.... I've got the DVD, but have no player. I was going to preview it before letting 7yo watch it - the Pellenor Fields, I'm told, was even bigger than Helm's Deep...

My brother bought a coffee pot with a timer in it today. I gotta say the idea appeals to me...though in my case, it prolly wouldn't do much good...I'd forget to set the timer, for sure!

Yeah, I know. I have tried to uninstall IE in the past and failed. 'Course I know why. I have been using Netscape exclusively for the past 2 years. Firefox has the IE look with the Netscape feel. I like that.

I like Opera too, but why pay for a browser when Firefox, IE and Netscape are free?

I second the invitation to ShootMoot. If you turn out to be a pervert, it's safe enough, g'nad will kill you.

LOL!

The Google toolbar has a vey good popup blocker. Regardless of how you may feel about Google...that's one thing they do well.

I likes it.

Do you just install it directly from Google?

Heh, I doubt I'd be able to figure out to set it. Heck, reseting the clock in the truck requires more than two steps so I leave and go by hmm. standard time again so either add or subract an hour, heck, looks at wrist watch. :-)

elf-boy was nervous the first time he saw it, but then he was fine. Now he watches it all the time.

Honestly, I was worried about him watching the Harry Potter POA, what with the dementors. If the kid can handle ringwraiths, he can handle dementors (and vice versa).

I kind of was the same turn of mind: Dementors, Nazgul, Voldemort, Sauron...

It's surprising, how and what these tikes can deal with....

Well, Good People of the West, it's time for some much-needed sleep.

I am so glad I took the chance to make port here in the Hole.

Until we find safe harbor once again....

Okay so I uninstalled Firefox and installed the Google tool bar. I'm not sure I'm better off yet.

Now, everytime I try to open Comcast, I have to tell it to use IE...

I am still workign with Firefox tonight. (Netscape blocks pop-ups better than IE with the google toolbar.) I am looking to see if this thing is better than Netscape.

What I *am* having fun with arethe different skins.

Oh, that's very frightening.

Good, watched two episodes of an anime (Ever buy something just because of the memories you have of the first time you watched it?) and am ready to see if I can get another 2k in tonight. Got music on so loud I can't hear my evil partying neighbors (headphones). I think I'm going to put "Mienai Yume" on play-over-and-over-and-over and see what happens.

Argh. My heroine is insisting on falling head-over-heels for the Mysterious Stranger. Which she is supposed to do, but not so rapidly. And she's NOT supposed to be obsessing about this for paragraphs and paragraphs. How do I know if this is turning into a (gasp, argh, NOOO!) romance novel?

Honestly, she wasn't this much of an idiot when she was seventeen!
