The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That sounds very dangerous.

You have to be careful with toasters. They're temperamental sometimes.

Well, good luck on that!

Today I brought the toaster, the coffee machine, and stuff to pop corn. I forgot the cutting board again. Doh!

The plan for tomorrow is to pack up and clean whilst doing laundry at the apartment.

My plan for tomorrow: Sleep in. Write. Design a major portion of the team programming project.

Sigh. I'm hoping for a phonecall from galpals in an hour or so, but... yet another stupid Friday night and weekend. I am almost but not quite ready to Take Steps here.

I'm watching a basketball game on the web tonight. Video sure runs a lot smoother with cable internet.

Heh, I would imagine that's so! I can't imagine trying to watch tv on dial-up...

I reinstalled my download client so I can start getting anime again... and I really wish Amazing Race was on now. Guess I have to wait until spring for a new season.

Heh...tried that last week. I got a still picture about once every 30 seconds but the audio was fine.

We're sitting down to have pizza and watch Shrek 2.

I didn't get out of the office until 6:30. I'll check in after this is over.

Okay...now that I have the cable internet, what's the best buy on wireless networking equipment?

Look around. Sometimes you can get one for $40 in the stores. Some of my friends who buy from bargain sites online have found them for $30 or so. - That's for the router. The network cards are actually more expensive. But the ones that attach to usb slots rather than network adapter spots are usually cheaper.

I'd go for stuff that's compliant with the 801.11G standard rather than just the .11B standard

Well, that's good news... I don't like basketball because of how the shoes squeak. And also how high the scores get. I like games like baseball where 4-2 is a perfectly normal score.

I only look at the point spread anyway.

You might have liked that time when Dean Smith ran the 4 corners offense at Dook for the whole first half. The score was something like 7 to 4 at half-time.
