The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Funny kitty story...when I got home yesterday, Halvah (one of my cats) was wearing my "I Voted" sticker. How she got it, I have no idea, since I had hung that shirt up and it shouldn't have been within her reach. I'm guessing it just fell off, she was curious about it since it was sticky, and somehow it ended up on her back.

But in any case I wasn't worried, 'cause while we were waiting for the results to come in on Tuesday night, my brothers determined the political affiliation of each of my animals, and they had decided she was the most conservative of the lot... ;-)

And Tam is Republican, Cleo (my old adopted Siamese) is a old lady that votes Dem without questioning it because her family always has, Fiona is a bossy feminist and probably a Dem as well (sigh...), and Frizi is a touchy-feely type who woulda voted for Kerry without liking it.

Rather divided household we are, according to the brothers!

Margaret is just amazing in some ways. Situations don't rattle her, at least not at the time. She'll make a wonderful mother if things go that way for her.

Me, I'm more like my Mom was, and get stressed out easily. Which means I need to find someone rock solid and calm, I guess!

I try to take things in stride but I worry about things ahead of time. Which means by the time they happen I'm usually totally prepared, though, so that's an upside!

What confused me is that they decided that pretty much all the cats were conservative, but the dogs are both liberal.

Wasn't there a thread here before the election that stated things the other way around? ;-)

But then, my dogs are dachshunds. German descent, ya know. Hm...

Ok, I'm sicker than I thought. So I'm skipping class and will take the bus home in half an hour. Yay.

Take care of yourself! You don't want this to drag out.

I stress out about just about nothing. Stress bad!

Let's see...
Rule 1024: Think before you act.
Rule 1025: Thinking before acting facilitates procrastination.
Rule 1061: Anything worth doing is worth doing at the last minute.
Rule 1600: Planning is over rated.
Rule 1601: Be prepared.
Rule 1602: Being prepared negates the need for planning.
Rule 1603: Plan to be spontaneous
Rule 1687: Always bring and extra can of whoop-ass.

and on an unrelated subject:
Rule 375: If you just did 500 push-ups and she is laughing, abandon the 'macho approach'.

Well, it's thrilling that W won again, it really is.

The only minus about it is that I don't get to buy a new "Charleton Heston is my President" T shirt.

Yeah, agreed about the holidays.

Good afternoon...

I got a decent car insurance quote... only $125 a month... first place wanted to charge me literally twice that. Ugh.

I'm only a day and a half behind on my work count. The toaster made it to the pawnshop and we've met Guido and his cat. I guess I need a conflict scene now....do I go with Guido or the toaster?

BTW the toaster makes mighty fine toast when it has a mind to.

I'm up to 5000. My heroine's landscape design has been rejected, her best friend is patronizing her, and her son won't talk to her. Mwahahaha. Now... enter Tall Dark Stranger. Well, he's entered already, but put him in proper perspective.
