Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Heh...since I'm not currently carrying any large files around, I went ahead and put both Spybot and Ad-Aware on my usb drive, along with the current definition files for each. I've used that a number of times already.
I really like this little guy! I could always use a bigger one, but that's just how computer stuff goes...
Something about that palace pic reminds me of the part of Isengard where Gandalf fought Saruman :)
Star Cruiser Repair The shield generator was jammed and an enemy star cruiser was headed our way. Captain Matthew, Lieutenant Christopher, and Commander Jeremy were working to get it started again. Matthew and Jeremy were needed on the bridge, so it was up to Christopher to fix it. I gave instructions and by then the enemy ship was in range.
Finally, Christopher fixed the shield. The enemy fired, and it was blocked. Then Jeremy remembered our weapons! We returned fire and fried the enemys ship!
The End
I hate it when my shield generator gets jammed!
Good job! Now the galaxy is a safer place.
Matthew has his Latin CD playing in the livingroom DVD player and he's reciting along with it. It's got a very soothing sound to it and it's very pretty to listen to!
This has been an unbelievable year so far. We're a third of the way through school and Matthew has really learned a lot.
Joshua too, can read now, which makes me want to cry. I taught Matthew how to ride his bike, and Steve taught him how to read. Steve taught Joshua how to ride his bike and I taught him how to read! LOL I don't know why I find this so significant...perhaps because they are both the first steps to leaving me. I'm proud, but they break my heart too.
I'd let 'em both stay a couple more years. ;~D
Heheh!! Yeah, there are a few more steps to go before I boot 'em out!
But you can start charging them rent now. ;~)
Heh...I particularly like the word "fried" in there...
Yeah, it's the main reason I pinged g'nad!
Sounds to me like he needs to get started on some serious sci-fi; you might have a budding author on your hands!
Now, for a long afternoon of getting my computer together. First stop: Windows Updates.
I don't hate ya. I'm just venting my frustrations.
I did kick the dog tho...
(and I sent ya some freepmail)
Ok. I've had my system connected to the network for two hours. Before I did that, I installed Norton. I've been to three websites, total. So how the #$%#% is there spyware on my system already?
Sorry, doesn't measure up to your annoyances, but getting this computer fixed has required three restarts already and I'm getting really bored of this.
It's not this squinched up though...I did it this way so I could get a screen shot of it.
The Tengwar (sp?) script up at the top says "The Free Republic Hobbit Hole". You will note there is no return address...if he wants to send a thank you, he has the webmaster email address to send it to. I'll be putting my address on the outside of the box, though...
Is this ok? I'm not married to it.
It's good!
Heh...Sam ain't looked that cute in a long time.
Sorry 'bout all the whinin' earlier folks. Just hit me wrong 'cause the therapist doesn't take into consideration that we have other family here. 'Course I'm not too charitable toward the therapists right now. Found out from the doctor that it was one of them adjusting Nana's brace that made the screw come out. They were glued in and not supposed to move. Wife is taking the brace by to the company tomorrow.
Wife did an amazing pep talk with Nana. First, the doctor says she's gonna hear some noise in the hip, but it's not slipping like Nana thought. Plus wife said "the therapist said you can't put any weight on the foot, but that's not what the doctor said."
To make a long story short, Nana has been able to go upstairs to the bathroom (using the chair lift of course). It takes a good while and she's tired when she gets back down.
But that's more physical activity than she's had in weeks. (started to say more movement, but thought the better of that).
FWIW, y'all are my first line of defense. I usually rant here then calm down and assess the situation. Don't get me wrong, we're still frustrated and overwhelmed. But I didn't pick up the Hefty bags and cinderblocks I was lookin' at a Lowes.
In other news, the dust mask seems to help in the yard. Although when I exhale my glasses fog up, so I had to take them off. I'm pretty sure I worked mostly in ~our~ yard...
Corin: we like being your safety vent. Lord knows I've taken advantage of the Hobbit Hole "whine and cheese" society often enough.
Glad things with Nana are going better. Just remember, you're not in Texas and the "needed killin'" defense prolly wouldn't work...
Lord knows a dwarf has got to vent someplace ;~D
