Hello, This is my first time posting here.

I've been listening to various (many) talk shows where letters from marines serving in Iraq are read on air. The contents of those letters are in dark contrast from what the popular media have us to believe (that everything happening in Iraq is all bad). For example, I heard the following letter read on the air by a talk show host the other day.

"I'm a marine mom. my son is in Iraq on his 2th Tour of duty right now. I was absolutely appalled at john Kerry's remarks the other day after the prime minister of Iraq spoke so eloquently to America...."I have an good reason for being upset at Kerry due to the fact that my son has been in Iraq for months and when Kerry spoke for the troops he said something to the effect that the troops were all upset with the president for them being over there. He left out anything positive! That was very offencive to me. He should not speak for my son or any troopers over there before he does his homework. I invite Kerry to read some of my sons letters. My son doesn't blame Bush for his being over there, he blames terrorism. Kerry's' comments gives terrorists a breath of life when he condemns our fight against terrorism! [How ironic] If he thinks he's not doing that then he should hear how he sounded on the air..."

"Here's some excerpts from my sons letters: 'Dear mom, don't listen to the media you will never hear it from them but the Iraqis love us and beg us not to leave. They didn't trust anyone at first because they have lived in such horrific fear for years. We are slowly gaining their trust. If we pulled out now it would be devastating to them!" August "The Iraqis want to live in peace and they are learning that it doesn't come easy: they've lived with fear, terrorism, and control for generations." September "We continue to gain Iraqis' trust. We help the Iraqi National Gard while they rebuild hospitals and schools. We get shot at by terrorist tugs who don't want them to succeed. We don't shoot back unless it's a last resort. We wait for instructions from the Iraqi National Guard because we're showing them how much we want them in to be control of these situations so they can defend their own country and we can move out. It can be a little nerve racking for us but it is worth it when we see their confidence build as they are handling this more and more on their own. They are working hard towards their own freedom."

"God bless the USA and a big thank you to pass, present and future military people serving America. You deserve nothing but praise from the rest of us who should be very thankful for all you've done to this country...' [end of sons' letter]

"My son is the true peace keepers of this nation. They do the leg work while the so-call 'peace' protesters are gone as soon as the audience is gone!" [end of moms letter]

That letter was just one of many (I heard DOZENS) of similar letters basically mention the same thing: that the media don't cover any good news, while bad news ARE reported and make the front page. Why is this?

Just a few things other things I gathered: In one day, there was well over 36 firefights by US troops trying to kill the insurgents in various places in Iraq. And the number of insurgents captured each day. Why don't they tell us about the thousands of service members, young men and women, out risking their lives working on projects to rebuild schools, hospitals, water systems and infrastructures? Why don't they tell us about the 7,260 active projects underway in Iraq being carried out by the US service people, all of whom are exposed to dangers? Oil pipelines and homes are being rebuilt. Clinics have reopened. Apparently, a nation wide polio vaccination campaign reached over 90 percent children. There are now about 6 million children at school, many of them attending one of the 2,500 schools that have been renovated since the liberation. About 152 new health centres have begun.

And why, oh why, don't they remind us that about 90% of Iraq is peaceful?

Are these things I hear true? Or have all the radio talk shows I listen to made them up (am I hearing things)?

And while I'm at it, how about mentioning more the speech Mr. Allawi gave thanking the USA?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133279,00.html

It was hardly mentioned at all. The only reason I know of it is because a radio talk show host read parts of it.

We all know there are two sides to every coin. From what I gather, the media only focus on the negative side. Find any websites that mention the other side, please, let me know!

The media is even trying to spin this tape as a negative for Bush, even though it clearly reveals his weakness.

This is the same attack Kerry and his VVAW used on America in 1971. Nothing Positive, All Negative, or NOTHING.

Walter the Commie Kronkite, Dan The Hurricane (a young reporter at the time) Rather and all the TOP EChelon MSM Reports were young Lefties at that time, Now They are in Charge or hold high positions in the MSM. They are Doing the SAME ATTACK ON YOU NOW, as they did during the Vietnam War. We were Kicking their asses, just like we are kicking their asses NOW. VOTE RELECT BUSH, KERRY IS A TRAITOR ALONG WITH THE MSM'S. They are all SOCIALIST !!!
COMMUNISTS< PROGRESSIVES, No matter what label is on the can it's the same can of WORMS !! IT worked before, why not a second time ?!! The American People are the same STUPID BUNCH of IDIOTS, They will eat it again..

This is exactly the same thing that MSM did when we were in Vietnam. They provide free propaganda for our enemy while demoralizing our troops. Anyone following the media close enough will recognize that they generally will only involve themselves in partisanship when when we are at war with a Socialist/Communist government. This pattern was most evident during early phases of WWII - while Stalin and Hitler had treaty they were against American involvement, but when Germany attacked Russia, they were all for jumping into the war. If you think back, the media was not outraged until the Socialist Baath party of Sadaam was removed from power; they could care less if religious nuts were removed from power in Afghanistan because most of them view religion as nutty in general, but then again most marxist do.

I think it's due to two factors:

- commercial: bad news sells
- ideological background of the journalists, which survey after survey show their bias to liberal cause...
