Usually bow hunters are shooting at close enough range to certainly identify their target, but I worry about riding my tan horses out in the woods this time of year, regardless.

Marl braids dayglo orange streamers into manes and tails. If you want to be fancy, try rosettes. :)

Works better than what my suggestion would be; paint the horse fire-engine red and carry bells.
