Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Mostly stuff you wouldn't like. ;-) Cottage cheese, green beans with oil and balsamic vinegar, and a couple small slices of sourdough. Odd mix, I guess.

I like half of that! Sourdough bread, yummy, and green beans are the only beans I do eat.
Keep your nasty cottage cheese, precious.

I've had my lunch.
Can I go home now?
Actually, I should write. It's slow. If I can get another thousand words or so in, I'll feel OK about starting Full Moon tonight - woo-hoo!

Woo-hoo, yes. Hope you like it, it's very sweet. And if you're like me you'll find yourself singing along by the third episode.

I haven't listened to the music yet! I should.
I should call tonight and see how the bothers are coming with FMA, too...they were really getting into it last time I talked to them. Even bought a cable so they could hook up the computer to the TV for easier viewing.

Mwahaha...
I have not yet met anyone who watched that show and didn't love it. Keep the progress reports coming!

OK, what are some good, well-known kids' books I could mention? Not Heidi, though...which I am NOT going to pull up at gutenberg.net 'cause I'll never get anything else done today. Did I mention I love that book?
I'm also trying to think of a nice but fairly ordinary boy's name. Maybe Andrew or...umm...Edward. Except, I hate the nickname Ed.

You could use Ned, for Edward. (Why can't I even read that name without hearing the Japanese pronunciation, now?)
Children's books... um... The Hobbit? Five Children and It? Swiss Family Robinson? Five Little Peppers and How They Grew?

Children's books... um... The Hobbit? Heh...I'd forgotten this.
Wife told me the other day that the Jr. Hi English teacher has a kid in her class whose Mom refuses to allow to read The Hobbit...because it's a fantasy. Kid's gonna read Pilgrim's Progress.
Heh...I cain't wait 'til that kid needs high school English. Wife don't do independent studies like that.
That Mom'll be comin' up our driveway with torches and pitchforks afore it's over...
(Bring it on...)

Yeah, some of those books should work. Especially Swiss Family Robinson.
I remember not liking Five Little Peppers, but not why. Hm.
Ned was Nancy Drew's boyfriend. I didn't like THOSE either...so if'n I use Edward, I'll have to use the full name. Heh...I'm hearin' the other pronunciation, too.
I think maybe I'll use something else, though. Patrick, maybe? James?

(Ed's not nearly as bad a nickname if it's "Edo", is it now?). Ned makes me think of the hero of "To Say Nothing Of the Dog"
I disliked Five Little Peppers, too. I think it was too Pollyanna-ish.
You could use Bob...
