Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Babysitters. Find some teenage girl obsessed with horses, swap riding lessons for sitting.

Uncle Ramius would be a fine choice as a sitter. Fortunately for him, we don't need one ;~D

Now that's an interesting combination of languages...
Wonder if one could code in Tengwar, and if so what sort of programs it would be most suited to.

During naptime he wouldn't be quiet, so he had to stand in the corner. Then he was kicking the file cabinet while he was standing in the corner. So, after being told repeatedly not to do that, the teacher took him to the principal.

Poor Fatty! So unappreciated! *nudge, nudge*
Becky would be pleased as punch just to stand there and ~look~ at those horses. And for an even BIGGER thrill, feed them a carrot or two.
Kids her age are easy to please, thank heavens. I have no idea how I'm gonna handle the teenage years.

Heh...my youngest sister is just reaching that stage. "You just don't UNDERSTAND me!" "YOU don't want me to have ANY fun!" Etc. etc. Usually dissolves into her running to her room, slamming the door and sobbing, and there's no way to explain something to her logically (i.e. her friend has to go home because her mother says so, not because we're being mean...)
All complicated by the fact that she has learning disabilities or in any case developmental problems...so trying to explain anything to her is hard at ANY time since she's very slow to grasp things.
I love her to bits just the same. She's a sweet kid. But sometimes...grrr!

Teenage years? Just lock her in her room for eight years and let her out to go to college.
