So...
I just got a two CD set of Charles Trenet.
(Now, I test my prescience by attempting to answer the questions arising in your mind.)
French popular singer.
Between the late '30s to the early '50's. After that he was like Sinatra...had a following but no real new hits.
Well, he stayed there during the occupation, but the consensus is he didn't actually collaborate. Some of his work could be interpreted as hidden patriotic messages to his countrymen.
The genre is chansons francaises, and they cover a range of subjects.
Currently I favor La Mer, which was covered in the US in English by Bobby Darin as "Beyond the Sea"...which was covered by someone else in the end titles to Finding Nemo.
So...there you are.

With regard to the discussion about electric windows... I dunno if anybody has brought this up yet...
It is important to remember that electric locks and windows will almost always *still* work when submerged. So will the lights, and the radio for that matter. Probably not the CD changer though.
But that striker and belt cutter is still a pretty handy thing to have around.

Got to see a bit of artillery in action, it was quite a thrill. I love that crackling, rippling sound the air makes when the rockets go off. Sucks to be the bad guys. God bless the USA!

If you ever have the opportunity to be somewhere between a big howitzer and the impact area during a fire mission, do so...the description "God ripping a sheet" doesn't quite do the sound perfect justice.

My only direct experience with artillery was the 3"/50 that was on the bow of Resolute. Sure... it was a museum piece, and it took a gang of about nine guys to operate it... but WOW was it fun to shoot.
No way to get away from the sound. Big gun mounted to steel ship. Good sound transfer anywhere on board. :-)

The CD's will probably still spin, but the viscosity of the water will probably keep them from getting up to speed, and then of course the water will interfere with the path of the laser.

They had an all-new one there for a while...but I understand they went back to the old melody* with new words. They're on a low-Lenin diet these days...
Which is fine with me. Good tune. If we didn't have one already, I'd suggest stealin' it :)
