Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Jen's in the sauce, and I am presuming Bear is too, because he is slurring his typing.

Could you set up a spoof web site with an https addy? ecurbh says you would have to own the domain in order to do an https site/subsite of that domain. Yes, it is technically feasible, but highly unlikely. (how's that for a lame answer?)
If the site has a Verisign (the most common cert authority) certificate, then it implies that the subdomain address is in fact authorized by the overall domain owner. For example, If I have a cert for https://webmail.mydomain.com then it does carry the authorization of whoever originally signed up for mydomain.com with that cert authority. Somebody could not set up a subdomain of https://blurbmail.mydomain.com with a verisign cert without my authorization, because I own the authorizations for mydomain.com at Verisign. This is all a good reason to buy stock in Verisign. Anybody can set themselves up as a cert authority, but people trust a Verisign addy, mainly becuase anybody with a brain sets up a Verisign account for their domain.

Filk? Nah... karoake! I sing along with the many many anime-theme-song mp3s that I've downloaded. Loudly, to annoy my evil neighbors who play rap music.
Unfortunately I don't know many filks. The one to "Gimme that Old Time Religion" is about it.
Sigh... stupid microsoft updates taking up all my bandwidth. Oh well, I spent the time watching some of the anime music videos I've downloaded. One or two are amazingly well done - there's this one that literally inserts characters from one series into scenes from another, seamlessly; I'd really like to know how they do it.

Ya think? *wink*
I may have to wait until next weekend. Doesn't look like I'll have anyone to watch Alyson til then.
Becky's with her dad tonight and I thought I'd get online earlier, but my mom hijacked my computer to look at houses she'll never buy.
Sound familiar? ;-D

You're not geeky enough...
Before AI class today, some of us had a discussion in the hallway about our geekiness or lack of it. One girl said she needed to develop her geekiness more - she thought because she's not into video games she's not a geek, so we tried to explain to her that there are many forms of geekdom. Just pick one and go with it.
So she asked if romance novels counted, and I said they give negative geek points, and then someone else who apparently doesn't think he's a geek said that just by having the conversation, we were all ubergeeks. Is that fair?
