This is the potential UT II -- UT I is alive and at 26.8 (last time I looked).
But you have to admit the topic covers the UT perfectly.
Computers have always been the problem. They were my major, I ought to know... *\;-)
ungh...negative
however, I approve of his name...
I have a really dumb question. What is UT?
Running a ping list is easy, if you can keep the computers in line.
First you have to get names. Better to ask -- and be very responsive if anyone wants off!
Second, create a text file. ASCII text, if you know what that is -- I use Wordpad from the Windows machine, and save as DOS text. In that file put each name you collect, followed by a semicolon. Put them all on a single line, don't let it "wrap" (some subleties here I won't go into tonight -FReepmail me with questions).
Third, any time you want to ping the list, post a reply in the old familiar way... but... pull up your text file with the names in it in Wordpad (or whatever), highlight the whole list, copy it to the clipboard, go to the "To" pane in your browser, highlight the name there and paste (so it's replaced by your list) and click on the "Post" button. Viola (or voila, if you prefer unaccented French), you've pinged your list.
I like to put something really pithy in the Your Reply: pane, like "This is the Bride of the Undead Thread Ping List / "Freepmail me if you want on or off this list."
The Undead Thread. A Zot Thread that is now at almost 27,000 posts.
It is a life form that devours all in its path (a combination Horta and Planet eater) so be careful.

I'm flattered. What can I say? Guess I was just in an "unnngh" kind of mood a couple days ago-was having a stressful day and I thought "hey, I'll post this just for the heck of it and get a chuckle out of how people respond before the thread gets deleted"-and I had a feeling fellow freepers could appreciate a thread like this-but I had no idea it would have a chance reach legendary status. I think something like an "unnngh" ping list is an excellent idea.
"Unnngh" ping list.. a kind of "Oh my gawd, this is making me grit my teeth and howl" article alert, also used for some humorous articles that could 'unngh!' qualify?
Sounds like a plan!
Yes, Threads that lift spirits and generate humor and release frustrations are appreciated.
(I'd kicked the idea about in my head to post a thread in Smokey Backroom for the Mods to go to so they can shout and holler in peace when they get upset.. I canned it for fear they'd "UNNNGH!" me.)
[Unnngh.. ping list idea generated!]
Laughing...can't...breathe...
*passes out*
As a side note if you type a phrase with unnngh in it and then press spell check UN comes up as a correction, interesting don't you think?
Post 568.
Sam_whiskey has an idea for an "Unnngh.." ping list.
Sounds like a plan to me.
(But I'm the fountain of bad ideas..)

"Up until a couple days ago I was never in an unnngh mood now I get there several times a day"
Wow...I've literally changed lives with a simple "unnngh". Who woulda thunk it??
Al baby changed things overnight with a simple stuned and beeber.
Good things usually happen late at night under stress, lack of sleep, or just plain typo demon infection..
FRClassic should be in the keywords if it isn't already.
Unnngh...
"Unnngh!!"
LOL!
