Somebody please encourage me. I don't get it. President Bush (who has my full support and vote) seems to be doing everything he can to lose this election in the final days of the campaign. When I was watching the first debate I found myself giving (in my head) excellent rebuttals to everything Kerry said. When Bush had opportunities to respond, he waited in silence for half of his alloted response time then gave rebuttals that fell far short of demonstrating what a liar Kerry is. I logged on to FR to see if others were as dismayed as I was with his responses and found that a number of you were indeed in agreement with my conclusions. I went to sleep discouraged but thinking that Bush still had this election in the bag. After all, his opponent is Kerry! Perhaps the easiest target you could have in an opponent. But then something happened that got me nervous. In my neighborhood I counted the ratio of Bush to Kerry yard signs the day of the debate. Just something my wife and I did for fun driving home. The ratio was 10-1 in favor of Bush. The afternoon after the debate, three people REMOVED THEIR BUSH SIGNS FROM THEIR YARD AND TWO OF THEM LATER PUT UP KERRY SIGNS!!! Others began getting Kerry yard signs. Now, it is about half and half Bush to Kerry. I keep telling people "So what if he didn't respond well in the debate... he has the right message - he has the righ agenda - he has the right morals - he still gets my vote!" But the people I talk to don't see it that way - instead, they have begun to question the things that swayed them into the Bush camp to begin with (SwiftVets, etc.). One of them even used Bush against Bush - he told me "Even Bush praises Kerry's war record and went off on the SwiftVets ads."
So now I'm nervous and finding myself praying to God that he grants our nation the wisdom to see Kerry for the snake that he is in these last few days until the election.
My question and my challenge to you is this... what can we do - grassroots, in each of our cities - to revitalize the Bush campaign in these last days before electing the leader of the free world?
Please get creative - it's time to sacrifice some time here - too much is at stake! We just can't have a communist loving, flip-flopping liar in charge of our republic at such a time as this!
If Bush is too much of a gentleman or too into his "new tone" garbage to respond to Kerry the way Kerry needs to be responded to then perhaps we have to do it. Everytime Kerry opens his mouth to spew out his lies, we need to be there with the facts. Call local news and radio shows, hand out .pdf files or printouts of the cover of Kerry's pitiful book "A New Soldier"... let's reverse this momentum shift.
And let's send a message to our administration in DC that it's time to RESPOND TO KERRY'S FALSE CLAIMS!!!
When somebody has been here for a month and posts a message spreading discouragement at a time when we need to look at the bright side, my antennae go up.
Now, simmer down...we may have a genuine newbie who has come to us for inspiration.
Freeper Revival Tent Meeting, anyone?
Maybe GW had something more important on his mind than a debate.<
Remember the Dem convene, '68, and the dis-enchanted activists?
Their slogan, used on signs and chanted in the street, was
"THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING"!
When the medium is the message; when interest is high but critical thinking dumbed down; when spinsters see Bushbogeymen under their beds, and their repeated calls to the thought police are tolerantly processed . . .
Then maybe it's time for GW to pencil-in "Debate with the guy who wants my job. Must take him seriously."
'Cause when he doesn't, others do.
He's on the Clear Channel board. That puts him lower than pond scum on the Lefties' likeability scale.
What can you do to make a difference? First, don't live your life in fear. We are NOT dependent on the John Kerry's of this world for how we feel or think. And further we are not enabled emotionally or intellectually by the election of Republicans, be it George Bush or whoever should represent our interests in government.
I am a Christian who serves a Living God, an American who believes in the ideals of our Founding Fathers, the Constitution of the United States of America, and I am NOT dependent on government because I know that government receives its power from me and not the other way around. I am a Patriot. I served my nation's military voluntarily, during a time of peace, but with the conviction that I would lay down my life for liberty and even for those who disagreed with the ideals I believed in - because I believe in this great experiment in freedom.
I am a husband who is loving and faithful, grateful for a wife who gives her all for our family and our marriage. I am a father who believes in his children because they have been raised in accordance with a higher standard, that their foundation is NOT in the things of this world. They know that both God above and their parents below love them unconditionally. They know that we would lay down our lives for them even as the Son of God layed down His life for us.
We have disciplined ourselves to move forward with our ideals because they are right and true. We lead by example. We live in a posture of faith and resolution which turns aside fear and doubt. When others see the love of God in us and an integrity that doesn't compromise with the whims of current societal trends - it broadcasts loud and clear that liberty starts with the unshackling of every heart and mind from the weight of sin and the tyranny men impose upon one another from without.
We do not seek the charity of government in our daily affairs but expect government to act as a bulwark against threats both foreign and domestic which would threaten the freedoms we enjoy. If President Bush's inability to articulate that cause during a 90 minute debate and the people are so easily swayed by vacuous rhetoric from Senator Kerry, then it only means we must work all the harder to educate those around us both by sound argument and lives that demonstrate the beliefs and principles we adhere to.
So work hard for the re-election for President Bush but do NOT be demoralized! Campaign for him, share the important philosophical differences between the political parties with your friends, neighbors, fellow workers, and anyone who will listen. But what our nation truly needs is a "Burning Bush" in every heart. The kind that brought Moses to his knees and changed the course of an entire nation. A passion to serve God with humility, in honesty, and resolute sincerity. That we would lay down our lives to defend the innocent among us and the profound inheritance our founding fathers so willed to generations to come.
Pray for our nation and her leaders - no matter who they are or what party they are from, even if we vehemently disagree with them. In the end, God will not be mocked. He is Faithful and True.
May God bless you and our wonderful country, the United States of America!

post #8 for good handout to print.
He had a bad debate night. He's still ahead and by most polls holding steady. I'm not sure why people are in panic mode over this. Did everyone think this was just going to be smooth sailing? All campaigns have these moments but everything is pointing at a Bush victory.
They have been cheating for decades but the cheating took on a new and perilous tone starting in 92 with the Perot, split the vote disaster.
By the way - have you noticed - nothing much is being said about the "3rd party candidate" this year who is on the ballot in more states than Nader due to their hijinks?
Their stealth campaign. They will slide their illegal votes over to that candidate and claim disenchantment by former W supporters.
We are in grave danger but a few tirades from some pajama patriots or pajama patriot imposters (whichever it is) about how discouraged we are is not going to help anything.
Roll up the sleeves and get to work or forget speaking out. If you cannot work, (walk neighborhoods, put out yard signs, go to meetings, make calls) - people can give $$$ or they can motivate others to give $$$ and to work. There is something every single concerned person can do.
GET OFF THE DUFFS AND GET TO WORK AND STOP COMPLAINING! (END OF RANT).
Three quick things:
1) I just heard about a documentary called Celsius 411 that is coming out this month. Does anyone else know about it? It is a pro-Bush movie refuting the claims in F911. Is there a thread discussing it elsewhere?
2) High voter registrations in purple states do not necessarily benefit Dems. Remember how many evangelicals failed to vote in 2000 who will be more enthusiastic about voting this year.
3) I too am anxiously awaiting the October surprise from Karl Rove. Has Osama been captured? It's October! Let's see it now! Don't wait until the end of the month!
