Watch Fox - they are showing the erruption on the hour and on the 1/2 hour. It is nothing like what we had in 1980, but it is still pretty spectacular. (I don't like earthquakes!!! shudder)
I just checked through the thread. Post #86, I asked if anyone was watching MT. Saint HElens. The reason I asked was I couldn't tell if what I was seeing could be the beginning of the eruption or something else. I am now convinced that what I saw was a preliminary venting before the eruption. I think what I saw was about 2 hours before the full eruption.
I'm heading off now to try to catch a picture of it. Thanks for the info.
I just happened to be within earshot of the TV today when it erupted. FNC was on it in seconds. In fact I think they may have had access to an Affiliate's camera on the scene.
I watched about 15 minutes. It was fascinating. I still have the Time Magazine from when it blew before. It is in my pile of 'Recent American History' which I maintain for my Grandchildren to use for school reports.
Bev, I tried to respond to you last night, but with my dialup service FR was so very very slow, I couldn't get back to you with a comment I'd composed about Mt.P.
Now I've forgotten what it was I said.
