After downloading the XP SP2 update I have experienced the following problem:
When accessing the Drudgereport home page I do not see any images/graphics. I haven't experienced this problem on any other web pages. Everything else seems to work okay
I checked the security settings and they appear correct.
I really dislike the direction MS is going/gone. But, what are we to do? Nobody offers a new computer, of any real world use, without XP on it. That being said, Xp is ok. If you going to implement sp2, the best, and most recommended method is by doing a "clean" install from a freshly formatted drive. Next best is updating all of your drivers and software, then do a spring cleaning of your drive by deleting everything you don't want, then empty the trash, and defrag your drive, followed by a good anti-virus run.Reboot to make sure everything is in order, then do a backup or burn an image to cd. Reboot and turn off anti-virus and firewalls, then apply the service pack. If you can't or don't want to do that, then backup your stuff, and take it to a local shop.

We had a VMS(4.?) system on an old DEC11 that was up for something like 11 years. It had a UPS so even when power was gone it kept ticking. Was used for a mail/printer server.
The most common and serious issue seems to be folks infected with Spyware that chokes on SP2s security settings and causes other things to lock up when they can't do what they're intended to do by their "evil masters."
I'm not recommending the product, per se, but www.pestpatrol.com has good info on what could be affecting your PC. Anti-Virus software doesn't even look for this stuff. We sent in some "malware" stuff today to an unamed major AV vendor to get them to ID it. Their conclusion was "this is not a virus - it is a regular program that installs on your PC and does things without your authorization." Well, duh. That seems to be an issue to me, but it doesn't meet their definition of "virus." You ain't safe, Sherlock.
It is important to make sure your PC is 100% clean before you try to install SP2. If SP2 breaks it you probably weren't clean, which is a good thing to learn.
I recommend reformatting and doing a clean install of Windows XP, then apply all of the patches, up to and including SP2. Otherwise Windows (any version) is a house of cards. Upgrading in place is, frankly, insane. I reformat and reinstall my systems at least once every 6 months. Of course, I rarely keep a system longer than 9 months, so......

You can change those in 'Start'>'Conrol Panel'>'Appearance&Themes'
I had to change my fonts on my Outlook Express.
My computer has an off switch, I don't need one that will run that long, besides I will replace it before than.
As I said, Linux is free and worth every penny.
What should I change it to?
Just go thru a few and see if you like the way they look. For font you can always go with the now infamous 'New Times Roman' and for your pointer i use an arrow. Pick whatever you want. It should give you an example before it sets the type so you can see if you like it.
When you run mission critical applications, it pays to use an operating that's up to the job. And baby, Windows ain't it. Hell, even Microsoft had to break down and run UNIX and Qmail after NT melted down trying to handle Hotmail's traffic. LOL!
As I said, Linux is free and worth every penny.

Oh, that's just silly. Give me the name of your ISP and cite their Acceptable Use Policy that forbids Linux. Every time I've heard that line, it's consistently been shown as fiction. All networked services function just fine under Linux.

Not entirely. It's more powerful, more reliable and far more stable than Windows. What's great is that a lot of popular titles under Windows (Photoshop, MS Home Office suite, etc) have open source equivalents (Gnu Image Manipulation Program, Open Office, et cetera).

For the most part, current viruses are created using Visual Basic with a recipe that's been known for years. That Microsoft can't defend against it speaks volumes for its lack of security. I noticed that you don't quite grasp that.
