XP SP2 Missing Images on Drudge Home Page
Posted on 09/28/2004 3:37:44 PM PDT by Keen-Minded
After downloading the XP SP2 update I have experienced the following problem:
When accessing the Drudgereport home page I do not see any images/graphics. I haven't experienced this problem on any other web pages. Everything else seems to work okay
I checked the security settings and they appear correct.

I would appreciate any suggestions or help that you could give to me. Dump Windows. Use Linux or get a Macintosh. Problem solved.

Was listening over the weekend to Leo LaPorte on computers, and he got a few calls about the problems people have been having with SP2. (Some are a lot worse than yours.) His advice and apparently the advice of MS is to uninstall it and take your puter back to the day before you did install it.
I installed it as well, and haven't had problems with it... Yet?

Uninstall SP2 or use go back to revert your drive to before you installed SP2. Also if you selected a valid restore point before installing SP2 you can use SP1.

The images you are not seeing are probably the advertisements. I have had popup and ad blocking so long that when I viewed Drudge on a friends PC I though for a second I had the wrong page with all that crap at the top.

I just put on SP2 also. Now on my desktop the icons have lines under them and won't go away. Also the manual buttons for my wireless and sound dont work either.
Any help anyone?

SP2 by default blocks pop up, look under tools. Either that or maybe the Java Virtual Machine has been disabled or removed. Don't need to uninstall SP2, just reinstall Java or check for popup blocker.

After installing SP2, I notice on my FR Homepage, there are two of my images that are 'blurry'...strange, don't notice it else where. I have a lot of photos on my computer and they are all fine.

One thing I had to do today before my download of sp2 was to got to my puter maker (www.hp.com) and download new drivers for my computer that are compatable with sp2. Then I downloaded sp2. No problems.

Have you also kept your browser updated? If so, and the problem persists, try a reinstall of Internet Explorer. You might also try Mozilla Firefox, which sidesteps some common browser problems and has some useful features.

Where did you find those?
I use Compaq... which is HP

www.compaq.com
support and drivers
XP support (box on left side of page)
Then pick the drivers you need. You might have to go to 'MyComputer' > 'Properties' > 'hardware' and then check to see if the hardware you have is what compaq says you might need to download.

Keen, got to tools and click internet options. Then click on Advanced and review/toggle your browser enablers.
