Sorry to hear you've put your plans on hold, I've been gone for a few and just trying to catch up with the thread.
My favorite place in the Keys is Little Palm Island Resort. Its small and wonderful and only accessible by private launch. And its only 20 miles from the Marathon airport. Its also very romantic looking. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.
We almost went to Key Largo this weekend, a couple of nice places to stay there it seems. We would have gone snorkelling a lot in the reef areas nearby, maybe fishing, plus exploring down the keys a bit.

I like Key Largo, too, although I havet been there in a while. I think you'd like Little Palm, it has all the stuff you enjoy and it isn't over crowded. I'll get a link for ya....brb. :)
