Lots of good dope on keeping the computer running well. I do all those things nearly daily..liveupdate my antivirus first thing; then hit the internet after scanning everything' and at the end of the day I normally do this daily, the ad aware scan and dump all that junk and I defrag..I don't care if it does say I don't need to now, I do it so I don't have hours of down time for defrag. I also do the clean sweep..and use my Norton "doctors" to make sure things are working well. It is worth the few minutes at the end of the day.

I could just twist my husband's head off and throw it at him. Last night he lost his mind and downloaded Yahoo Messenger. Now I've got Yahoo crap all over this computer and I suspect it is just crawling with spyware now, too.

That should tell you whether or not you've got spyware.
Yahoo IM does have stuff I wouldn't want on my machine.
My brother was using my machine last time he was here and went to install Yahoo IM.
I threatened him with death.
I know, a little extreme.
But last time he used my machine, which was my previous Win98SE beast, he got all KINDS of garbage stuck on it.

I just saw this article about the late great California governor Grayout Doofus. Seems he's enjoying life since the recall. I'm sure that his pensions helps soothe the transition to private live ($105,450 annually). I feel better, too, knowing that my tax dollars are going to make his life nice and cushy.
