You are taking Rocky to the vet tomorrow then? With the 'electrolyte imbalance' is that the same imbalance that can cause QHs to 'lock up' or tie-up' after work? Bob's mare did it once, and I was told it is a risk with very muscled horses that exert heavily after a rest period.

Electrolyte imbalance does cause tie ups. But I don't think that was the problem. It looked more like a gut cramp. I've seen tie ups before and that's not how Rocky looked, unless his was just a very very mild one. The tie ups I've seen, the muscles stood out rigid on hips and shoulders, Rocky only had one spot, left flank area. I still think he could have pulled something on that slip.

We gave him some karo syrup to replace potassium if it was an imbalance. But even after the cramp was gone he was sore to the touch in that spot.
