I'm not a camping sort either. However, I am making an exception here, as we will most likely be imbibing the better part of the afternoon and evening - and so the tent is the lesser of 2 evils, as I will not get into a vehicle for a 30 mile drive home.

It won't be all that bad - We've got an air matress, so I will actually be sleeping with real sheets!!!

I don't know what ramen noodle cabbage salad is!!!

I like this dish because it can be served hot, cold, or room temperature. And it is perfect for a BBQ because it contains no mayo.

I posit the following question to all: "How much longer will it be before we witness the complete meltdown of the Democratic party?"

I thought he was watching the Republican convention when it occurred to him how his party and additional fifteen minutes of fame are going down the drain. It did get bad Thursday night for him, perhaps during W's speech.

We used to tent camp 2-3 times a summer.

More often with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Rained once in Southern CA Mojave's Desert. Nearby small pond rose up, flooded the tent with a couple inches of water. St Ronnie and I were on a 6" think air mattress - didn't notice a thing.

Jean was light (age 3 or 4) and her air mattress just floated.

The boys were heavier, got soaked - but didn't wake up!

Went on many dozen Boy Scout and Cub Scout camping trips: One, in mid January up near your area, was cold enough to freeze the coffee that we left out during the flag ceremony...

Probably about 14 degrees that night.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for the first time in I don't know how long --- I am really and truly blissfully ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby just left with the yung'un for our friends' house. He's going to hang out giving them a hand for a couple hours and then come back here to collect the balance of the stuff we're taking and return my van to me.

Enjoy - I'm kind of a loner myself - I don't really go for shopping with other women - I'd rather be alone so I can do what I want..............

Hah!

(Wasn't it Hemingway who wrote, "Never ask for whom the thong rises, lest it rise for thee?")

I rarely go shopping with other women, either.....except my SIL - I love going shopping with her because we have so much fun.

Shopping with her is an all day affair and we plan it that way, because we go from shop to shop to shop........The only time hubby dares go with us is if the plan is for only going to garden centers and nurseries!!!
