Word For The Day, Friday, 9/3/04
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
POSIT: verb. (pa-zit) tr.v. pos·it·ed, pos·it·ing, pos·its
1. To assume the existence of; postulate. See Synonyms at presume. 2. To put forward, as for consideration or study; suggest: If a book is hard going, it ought to be good. If it posits a complex moral situation, it ought to be even better (Anthony Burgess). 3. To place firmly in position.
Etymology: [From Latin positus, past participle of pnere, to place. See position.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Good morning Robert.........just curious, do you talk to your wife like this? And if so, does she hit you with her open fist or with the fly swatter? lol
well i had to get up for work this AM, stayed up to see every last bit of the speech, and logged onto FR briefly, so i know how you feel.

After the week I've just been through - sure!!!!!
I think it's a serious case of mommy burn-out. about the only thing that has maintained my sanity the past 2 weeks has been feeding my friend's animals. I've been spending a couple hours a day at her place and Jax has been having a ball playing with all of her cats.
well you either have had more sleep or more coffee than i have, bc i never even thought of that!
Gabby have I missed something - or has the constant rain and sighting of Noah's Ark caused your problems of the past few weeks?
Excerpt...
More than one member of the Collective marveled at his ability to attract beautiful women. It was incredible how he always had a beautiful woman at his side, recalls Barbara Branden. I think it was the attraction of his intellectual power and probably his reserve. You couldnt knock him over by batting your eyelashes at him. He certainly had a profound effect on women. Another member speculates: Maybe he was a good kisser, from all those years as a saxophone player. His ex-wife Joan Mitchell Blumenthal offers a different explanation. He is very clever, he knows a lot about a million things, and he has a wonderful sense of humor. Alan is charming and always interesting....
