~sigh~ Nana related Good News/Bad News prayer concern...
Social worker at the nursing facility just told the Mrs. that Nana may come home Monday. First she said "we'll do a home visit with her either today or tomorrow."
To that wife said "Don't you think you should do it when SOMEONE IS THERE TO LET HER IN?" As in "weren't you going to let me know?"
SW said matters of "safety" would be addressed during the home visit. Wife said "It's not a matter of safety, it's a matter of the fact that she can't get herself out of bed to go to the bathroom."
It's just that simple. If she's ~up~ she can ~go~ by herself. But if she's in bed (where she still is most of the time), she is unable to get herself up.
SW was implying that's when we'd have to have home health care (as in WE pay for it). As in WE can't afford it...
OUR contention is, if she's not mobile, she shouldn't be home.
~sigh~
We're all on your side, Corin. It's good that Nana's doing better, but they ought to understand that the rest of your family has needs, too.
Medicare and some others do pay for home health care... visiting nurses and aides are cheaper for insurance than nursing homes are. Have you already checked it out? It's a tough call to make for a family, I know. Prayers that whatever happens next is the best path for everyone, including Nana, and including you.
