Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

How cool is that!
I'm glad it didn't decide to blow at that moment though. You might of gotten more than a view! *shudder*
Although Hair has said that St Helens can't do much, since the 1980 eruption destroyed part of it, right?

It's true... snow it's bad to drive in, but ice is impossible. chains don't even help that much.

...followed by the blender, the food processor, the juicer, waffle iron, George Foreman grills...all out to attack this guy because he wouldn't spring for the extended warranty?

Snow just means you gotta go slow...ice means you don't go out at all 'less'n you got a death wish. There's nothing at all brakes can do if you hit a good patch even at a crawl, especially on a hill - and we happen to have a few o' those around...
I know my limitations!

"Just ask my kids (now grown, themselves). I've got a lot of 'em." I meant, of course, that I have a lot of stories, not kids. I wish strongly that I had a lot of kids, but there are just 2, love 'em more than life.

I haven't heard any reports of any ash yet. So far it is just steam. But it did look like there was a thin veil of ash streaming off the mountain when I flew over. It looked more tan or grey than white.
but it haven't heard of any reports yet.

They belong to the same union.
To: Sam Cree
LOL! I was going to point that one out!
I'd like a bunch of kids, too. Hope it still happens.
But I'd be happy with one or two, if that's how things work out. Sure hope it does!

The lights reflect on the snow and it makes everything very bright! I used to think they were like fairy lights..." I think they are too.

It's true that the 80 eruption blew a lot of the mountain away. It probably will take another couple hundred years to build back up to that big of a blast. Any eruptions now are bound to be way way smaller. but... they'll probably still make for some good TV.

From what I understand, most places warn folks if the roads are icy and some places even have "ice days".
Those extra days off make it almost worth the hassle! ;-)

Last December, we had a couple of days where we got over a foot of snow - it was right during finals time for the semester, too! But we had almost a week off because of it, so some people just did grades based on work, plus we crammed exams in all over in rooms that wouldn't normally have been used and during the evening and early mornings. It was crazy!
Since I don't teach...I just got days off. ;-)
