The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh, it was just such a rare experience for us to be a "majority" for once. Plus hanging out with cool homeschoolers is rare ;-)

That's not at all what we meant. It was just interesting to me to see so many kids who were homeschooled - I know it's common among conservatives, but I guess I hadn't realized just HOW common until Entmoot.

All my female homeschooled acquantainces were the eldest daughter of a fairly decent family. You'd think I'd have had a lot in common with them, but actually you're only the second person to fit that profile who I've ever actually liked. A lot of the homeschoolers I knew weren't into things I was into - thinking SF was bad, fantasy suspect, and let's not even start about anime...

I'm baaaack!

The CC was cute, but felt a little cramped. Right now I like the "old folk's home" in Overland Park MLS 1194601. The decor is a bit dark, but I can fix that. It's got a nice deck and walkout-patio thingie under the deck.

Kitty hasn't needed the Top Spot stuff this year...being an indoor cat and all.

Being as how all the cats are indoor cats and the dogs only go out in their yard, I'm surprised we ended up with 'em this year...but somehow we did! Just my luck, I guess.

Bwahahaha! I just finally got around to listening to Zell's interview with Chris Matthews. Gosh, that was funny!

"Do you really believe John Kerry wants to defend our country with spitballs?" "That was a metaphor. You ~do~ know what a metaphor is, don't you?"

LOL! Ouch...

Yeah...and "I wish I was there, so I could get up in your FACE!"

He was NOT happy with Chris interrupting him before he could say anything fully, was he?

It's about time someone stood up to Tweety that way. It really bugs me the way he asks questions, then keeps talking, and then accuses his victim of not answering.

Got my electric bill. It was actually quite low, hurrah! I expect it'll go up in the winter but as a base rate, really not bad.

Hair, have you heard nothing from the FL HHDs?

I haven't even been inside to watch the news or anything. Has it made landfall?

Ruthy and Sam et al are probably still getting dumped on. It's really windy in Melbourne now.

Still blowing 40-50 here from the NW, with light rain, been the same all day. Lights flickering occasionally. I'll feel better when Frances starts moving, she's been sitting basically in the same spot most of the day, maybe only moved 10 or 15 miles since this AM.

Looks pretty good for us in Miami, though.

So you haven't gotten the 20 inches of rain they are forecasting elsewhere?
