Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You mean they didn't mention it in the brochure "So you want to move to the Midwest?" :-)
To: osagebowman
Well, you have to put the motor oil on your skin, so it's not that cool of a tip. It does work, however ;-)

Maybe you need a new plot?
What if Guido's really the heir to the throne of France?

He'd have to change his name.

Sam; knew there was a catch, thought you might use it as spritz or pour it in a circle around you.
Kind of like using a horsehair rope around your bed roll to keep rattlesnakes away.

Nah... King Guido I is about what France deserves.

If you do have to interact with them, keep your expression bland and a little sardonic... as though you smell something really foul and suspect one of them is responsible. If'n yer gonna talk about us guys, the polite thing is tuh ping us...

Dude, the rudest dwarf in the world is a prince of manners compared to the typical 19-year-old male college student.

"Guido" isn't exactly a French name.
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, well, Napolean was really Italian too, you know...

And we haven't forgotten about getting a check in the mail to ya winmag.... going to do that this weekend.Checks are always gratefully accepted. And I found a use for the last four HH "seconds". They're going to non-HH members who make donations, or those stubborn people who don't want one because "that's one less for the troops". Getting rid of two of them that way.
Gotta get with the dealer, and tell him not to sweat more "seconds" in the future. We'll find a home for them, although he takes a bit of a bath on each one.

In all the events that have -- umm --
evented over the last several months, has anyone noticed a repository for the Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew in
The Passion? I mean fer cryin' out loud if I can find a complete listing of the Quenya, Sindarin, Numenorean, Rohirric and Black Speech* in
LotR...
Thanks :)
*Not to be confused with "Ebonics".
