I'm not a new fan! I've been watching anime for 5 years. I've just never had a chance to see Eva.

I've heard of Kaleido Star - can you give us the rundown?

Ksen's kids are great young anime fans. They watched Escaflowne with us at Entmoot and as you can see are Fullmetal Alchemist fans, too.

Mmmm...Smarties...

You can get those in Canada, too, along with various other British candy we can't get here. I love Cadbury Crunchie bars. *drool*

We're so close to the border I SHOULD just run up every once in awhile, but there aren't any towns big enough to have much in the way of stores until you get quite a way up.

Now I wants some, though.

I know you can get 'em in Canada. Every time we've been to Canada, we come back with carloads full of Smarties, Fruit Gums, and English Harry Potter books.

Smarties are the greatest candy ever.

Uh oh. I've gone and done it. I think my officemate might sign on to FR. We're *never* going to get anything done now! LOL.

Ok yeah I guess 5 years counts.

Kaleido Star is one of those ones that the description does not really do it justice. It is about a girl named Sora that comes to the US to try out for Kaleido Stage which is a acrobatic theater type thing. Kind of like a circus for more theaterish. The story is great the humor is well done and the animation quality is outstanding. It is my current fav of the series I am working on collecting.
So far everyone I have shown it to has liked it.... er.. I guess I did not get enough feed back to say that anymore after all the people that saw it at AI. It seemed to draw decent crowds.

Hmmm... ok, will put it on the "humorous" list. I think I'm going to watch some serious anime once I'm done with Full Moon (although I don't expect the end of that to be really happy, somehow).

Do you have any recommendations for currently running series? There's nothing more fun than waiting for the fansub to appear... once FMA is done, I'll just have Samurai7 on a regular basis.

You can get Kindereggs in Canada, too. That's the other thing we HAVE to get if we're up there.

What's kindereggs, precious?

We always pick up some super-strength medicine while we're there, too. And we used to get Splenda, years ago before it was available here.

We've discussed 'em here before...they're chocolate eggs, thin chocolate...two halves, with a toy inside. Usually the toy is some little thing that has to be assembled and stickers put on. There are series' of toys, usually a couple every year. When I was in Germany, I used to collect 'em...until they were banned in the US as a choking hazard and the commissary stopped carrying them. I could still get them off-base, but I didn't shop off base all that often.

It is not all humor. It is mostly a 'growing up' kind of story like Full Moon. Not really 'growing up' but learning new stuff in a particular field. It is a blend of humor and drama kinda like Kenshin.
The two series-ongoing that I follow closely are Naruto (which is pretty decent) and PGSM (which I am addicted to like crack). PGSM is the new live action Sailor Moon series and it is amazingly good. I dare any anime fan to watch the first 8 episodes and not be addicted. The first couple are a warm up but if someone can make it to 8 and not be addicted I would be surprised. It might be the only series I have ever watch where just about EVERY episode is better than that last. By episode 47 you can imagine it is rather good. Episode one makes you go "hmmm well it did not suck as I expected it to." Episode 2 makes you go, "hmmm this might turn out decent," Episode 4 makes you go, "hmmm I have to watch more of this." Episode 6 makes you go, "I can't wait to see what happens next."
By episode 25 you are like "gaahalaaaaa *drool* muuust seee mooore."

"Naruto" I'm seeing at the anime club and frankly, it's ok there, at a rate of three episodes a week, but I couldn't watch it on my own. There just isn't enough... I dunno.. actual character development? It's mostly just fight, fight, fight.

Sailor Moon. Um. Right. Maybe. I'll consider it, since you praise it so highly.

Yeah Naruto is weak on that. Character development is what makes the new live action SailorMoon much better than the anime. The anime was light on development and took seasons to do it. The live action is packed with it.

Have I strongly recommended anything yet that you did not end up liking?
PGSM is one you need to see 4+ episodes to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Jeanne is confused about which way she wants to go.

She should follow Karl, IMHO!

I think the Nestle Wonder Ball is a cheap variation of the Kinderegg.

Thin, round chocolate shell with candy inside and a sticker in the inside of the box. There are different kind of candies and stickers, but all are Disney characters.
