Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm so happy! They haven't done it in so long I thought for sure that they'd either forgot about me or had rotated new folks through or something. But I guess not! This started in May of '03! God bless em, they made my day.
I gotta get off line, 'fore Steve gets home. I'll check in later during his nap.

How'd you know it was henna? Just assumed I wasn't that adventurous?
I have actually been kinda considering getting one... somewhere it wouldn't be seen... but so far I've decided against it.

When you get back, show Clare the photo I posted of the tat - she'll get a kick out of it.
It was a way cool con, for being so small.

Bah. Someday I'll do something really outrageous and then you'll all see!
Ah... with more caffeine and some really gentle instrumental music (yay Fruits Basket!) I'm losing my headache. Good, because I really have to get coding this afternoon...

A HAM license? Like as in HAM radio?Sure. The boy scouts have a radio merit badge. Part of earning it, is getting a ham radio license. I don't know if the cub scouts have a similar badge or not.
Either way, your boys seem inquisative enough to enjoy the expirimentation aspects of it.

Well, that's it, I tell ya. I'm going to figure out how to write them. I know they are with the Army National Guard in North Tulsa.
I have been doing this for over three years now and they've been circling over a year. The only reason I haven't written them before now was because I didn't want them to get in trouble if they weren't "supposed" to be circling my house. I decided that I will risk it and say that I am delighted that they acknowledged my enthusiasm...that way I don't say too much and they can figure out what to say if it gets them in trouble.
I'll also say how proud I am of them every time they fly over and how safe they make me feel and how grateful I am for their service.
I'll post the letter when I get it written...have to dwell on it a bit but I'm inspired.
Any suggestions?

Hmmm...may be! Matthew's not doing scouts this year, he's a year ahead anyways and he's gonna take this year off to wait for his dad to finish school so he can do it with him next year. It really is Steve's thing.

More work in the back forty today.... This is our biggest tree. We could never get to it before :~D

Big mushrooms:

And check this tree out.... Looks like it was knocked crooked when it was young and has spent the rest of it's life trying to get straight.

Wow...I know this place! I love your little homestead.
Hey Bear...when did the second helicopter fly over? It was around the time I'd hurt my eye, because I remember trying to see them and couldn't focus.
I'm writing a synopsis of what has happened since 9/11/01 and what led to all this running around and waving.
