The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, I am hoping that the hurricane season is about wrapped up. Jesus.

Anyhow, it probably isn't, but if we can avoid any more Cape Verde storms, I'll be OK with whatever else comes, I think.

corin; guess Ivan is raising cain. The tornadoes have seemed pretty bad, hope the family was unhurt.

Heard from the last of the gulf coasters on the bow site. Looks like they all made through. (so far this season).

Thanks. It's been a helluva Corin week even without the weather...

Van is in the shop getting the air conditioning compressor replaced. I weren't expecting that.

Jr. got an allergy medicine and an antibiotic today. So at least he should soon be on the mend.

But you know, as crappy as this week has been for us it could be worse.

This woman lost her house and belongings. I don't know how many kids she's got, but they're young (it's the "Mothers of Young Children Sale")

Then the Executive Assistant in our office got bad news today. She fought breast cancer about 10 years ago. About a year and a half ago it came back. She had the surgery and chemo. And she hasn't been doing well. Today they told her she had to go back for more chemo.

So, in light of that...yer basic Corin week ain't suh bad...

I hope it's over, too! It's worrying for those of us with friends in the danger zone, too.

It's funny... Cuz all the regulars are coming over and asking “hey? No computer? Wassupwitdat?”

Then I show them that I'm freepingon my blackberry... Then for some reason they just roll their eyes and walk way shaking their heads... :-)

"I've always just figured that by Thanksgiving, we're in the clear when it comes to hurricanes."

I've always figured by the 2nd week of October when we get our first cool weather (sometimes), though, truthfully, I start relaxing around the beginning of October.

June too soon, July stand by, August come she must, September remember, October all over :-)

I'm laughing at the weird characters that are showing up in your posts.

Can you see them? It appears that you entering punctuation marks and they look more like Wing Dings. *grin*

It's so true, Corin. I was feeling pretty down and lonely tonight, but reading about what other folks are going through really helps put me back in place.

Doesn't mean we can't vent and mope sometimes, but we can always keep our blessings in the picture too!

This Ivan storm has affected alot of different people in alot of different places. The death toll is kind of shocking, to tell you the truth, and I guess it could have been worse.

Dunno what the value is to the bank. Real Estate Guy says my offer is comparable to selling prices in that neighborhood...or something like that. House is still listed as on the market.

Oh well...at least I know my credit's good. :)

Roger that. Ivan has been a bad one. Maybe part because it just kept creeping west and ended up further over than folks thought it would hit. Less time to prepare this way. Dunno.
