Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Sounds to me like you made a mistake in getting up. Hope things get better.
Yawn. At least this should be a short day up at school. I think I can come home at two and get working on code. I've got a lot to do if I'm slacking off tomorrow.

Nah...if you never got up you could never go back to bed.

Excellent point.
Yawn... I was up a little late today but I'm still ready to go before time to leave. That's good. Today I get to install mice on all the lab computers. Sounds like no big deal? These are Unix boxes. You can't just plug in the mouse, you have to tell the machine that it has a new mouse and what sort of new mouse it has.

Welcome to my world... ;-)
I wuz bad. We just went out for Chinese.
And it's vey, vey quiet today. All the freshman left for a field trip (or field trips, really - they depend on their declared major), and most of the faculty went with 'em. So...it's kind of a ghost town here.

Not stoopid. Just young. ;-)
It's William Frawley playing "Fred Mertz" in the old (1950s) "I Love Lucy" series.

Quiet is good!
Great, I've got someone coming over tonight to do coding strategy... my house is a mess... and I have a whole list of errands to do this afternoon, and I have to figure out how much cash to get for the con tomorrow. I should just go home now!

Can I go home, too?
I just heard that the library in the town where I live is having a sale today and tomorrow. I'm hoping all the good stuff isn't gone before I get there! Not that there's likely to be much good stuff...but I'll take what I can get...
*sigh* Kinda dreading tonight. It's the weekly jam, so I'm likely to see that guy for the first time since I turned him down. If I don't go, it'll just prolong matters and make it worse, so I'm better off just getting it over with. But I'm still kinda nervous and hoping I don't react wrongly.

Pretend it didn't happen and hope he doesn't bring it up again...
Good luck with the library sale!

That's my plan. And I don't intend to mention it to anyone...I hope he does the same.
And if the library at least has a bunch of old novels (mystery or mebbe sci-fi or classic literature) for cheap, I'll be happy! Here's hoping...
