Time...that's the key right there.
Well, that, and a PC that can handle the latest spout of graphics-heavy games.
Morn'n!
It stinks being at work today, when practically the rest of the entire state is off for holiday.
Although, my commute in was very enjoyable with 80% less traffic!
'Course I wouldn't mind giving up cleaning...
I'm excited- the pickles will be ready on Wed. Yippee!
Had a bizarro dream last night...Hair and Ecurbh had gone to see JimRob, and I was supposed to babysit Bay. We were at my Dad's house, and didn't have any kind of fenced in area, except that Fiona's little pen was there, but that's fence about two feet high, and not even big enough for a horse to turn around in. So...while I was trying to figure out how this was gonna work, he wandered off. Most of the rest of the dream was me running up and through the woods frantically calling Bay, and trying to get Ruthy to help me since she had watched him before. However, SHE was too busy talkin' to someone (can't recall who), and just kept saying "in a minute". Thanks for nothin', Ruthy! ;-)
Oh, and there were HUGH wild turkeys everywhere. The bird kind, that is. We were discussing turkeys yesterday, so I guess that's where that came in...
I've been getting ready for school to start...watching classes on how to teach your kindergartener! I've gotten all the school supplies ready to go...taping begins for real next Sunday (I've been practicing for a month, ironing out any kinks.)
G'nad: Matthew was very interested in the thought of getting to shoot a real gun! Visiting with your family sounds like just what the doctor ordered, but I just don't know when.
Ruthy: Matthew also loved your cake you posted!
To the Lady in the Computer: Matthew also says "Thank you!"
lol...WOW! That's some dream!
(Now I'm suddenly hungry for a turkey sammich)
I can't wait either! What an endeavor!
Ever thought about making saurkraut?
You're taping the school sessions?
We're going to start Autumn on a pre-home-school program in the fall, and have some workbooks and curriculum on order. We figure about 3 hours a day of lessons will be a good place to start, and it'll help get her ready for next year.
Three hours is alot for a little one...be sure you space it out over the day! Joshua's classes are about 2 hours including worksheets. Even then, they have breaks about every 15 minutes!
Yes, I tape five days worth of lessons for 10 classes every week. Then they view those classes the next week. While they are viewing those lessons, I am taping the next week's lessons.
The ten classes are (J for Joshua, M for Matthew):
J-Bible
M-Bible*
J-Beginnings (Kindergarten)
J-Math
M-Math
M-English/Grammer
M-Reading
M-Spelling
M-Heritage Studies/Science*
M-Handwriting*
The items with a * beside them are classes that Matthew has to watch, but has no curriculum to turn in. He has to make an entry in a three-subject notebook after each lesson telling me what the lesson was about.
Usually I only did school in the mornings...had the afternoon free.
Here are pictures of us bowling for Matthew's 9th birthday. Note how much weight Steve has lost?? And see his Seattle tee-shirt I got him while at WeddingMoot?
Good morning!
Rosie, What a funny dream! Sorry for dumpin Bay on ya.... and sorry Ruthy wasn't more helpful, the flibbertyjibbit!
2J.... JimRob was very nice in person, and his wife and son too. There was enough time to talk to them for a good long while. They have a little dog at home his wife calls the terrierist.
Great pics! I think all bowling alleys were built in 1975 and still have the same orange furniture today.
LOL! I was thinking the same thing! Ours has about the same furniture.
Looks like a great party, 2J!
LOL!! I think you're right.
Hey, you know my oven is busted, right? Broke down a couple of weeks ago? Well, I went to make the cake and had it all mixed up and forgot I didn't have an oven.
So I made it into cupcakes and microwaved them! They didn't look pretty on top, but that's covered with frosting anyways and I tried one and it tasted just fine! Very moist!
Took 4 minutes to cook six of them! Amazing, huh?
Well...I was amazed. ;-)
Good to know that you can do that, if need be.
So...still no progress on the oven?
Nope. :-(
He's taking out parts of it and taking it to a parts place and having each part tested. When he finds what doesn't work, he'll be able to replace it, it's just taking him a while...because he only takes one part out at a time.
And he's also working on his thesis! So it's mostly a time issue.
You're much more patient than I am. I'd go nuts without my oven!
Though...I lived for four years in Germany cooking mostly with a microwave, so I guess it's possible to make due. But I don't miss those days!
Mine?
