Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
No, it's up on a hill. The bricks you see are the bricks Frodo was standing on. They just collapsed with all the rain.
That wall was probably a good 100-200 years old...
So the hill just gave way... was hard to tell what happened!
How is it now? - Still soggy or are you drying out? Did you go to work?
The "bottom" area down by the river is condemned. About 20 blocks. It's the old tobacco warehouse district and has been (ironnically since the building of the flood wall) the new nite spot for Richmond.
But the water came to fast and furious for the flood wall to be effective (or even closed).
I made it in okay (around noon). Sun is out now.
Wow. Sunny here... I am about to go out pasture mowing.
Be back in a while!
By "condemned" you mean - everything's going to have to be knocked down and rebuilt?
I don't know. I don't think so. I think it's more that there's a lot of work to do before things would be considered back up to code. At least one (maybe two) buildings collapsed.
But that area has been underwater before. Almost regularly before the flood wall was built.
I think the condemning part is to keep people out of there. At least until all the buildings can be inspected.
Ah, I see.
I've never lived anywhere that gets much flooding. The occasional flash-flood to fill up a basement, but I have no actual experience with it...
Sigh. 45 minutes until the last class of the day, then home to see if my Java can be made to work.
Later. We have our last acting class tonite.
Fortunately, since I did my monologue last week, all I have to do is watch everyone else.
placemarker for later.....
heading home soon....
You sure said it!
Just after I posted to Corin, Matthew sat bolt upright on the couch and turned absolutely green. Apparently his medicine nauseated him, but I didn't want him to throw up!!! The medicine costs $40 and is only 5 doses.
So I yelled at Joshua to get a wet washcloth, which he did...soaking dripping wet. I squeezed it out on the coffee table and proceeded to sponging Matthew's face and neck with it.
He managed to keep it down, but sometimes it was all he could do. The nausea seems to have passed now. I got him to talking about Star Wars and he talked solid for about an hour and a half! Took his mind off it and it passed.
The $40 for the medicine was just my co-pay! Can you imagine how much that must cost???
Don't like the sound of that bite. Hope he gets better soon.
See #7132!
elf-boy only got the shots, and I am sure it was vey costly. I am thankful that I was military at the time!
I think some nice bland chicken and rice is in order for tonight...he's gotta keep that medicine down.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever? Hope not! I never had anything that series from a tick bite.
That's a lot of guilt on a kid!
