Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Whoa!! See that car behind the shark? If that happened to me, I'd be a disaster. I'm sure I'd have a nervous breakdown right there on the spot. Or a heart attack (with my cholesterol).

If a shark jumped up at me out of flood waters, I'd get pretty flustered, too.

evening re: cannas, well, they do need a lot of sun, the height isn't a problem, some were a short variety others medium and some tall. The ones we have blooming are from the latter to, our short ones haven't come on either.
re the musket, well, if you're so inclined, have it checked out. Use about 70 grains of FFg, musket caps and a patched .670 cast round ball and you're in business.

A lot of scenes like that all over Richmond tonite Sam.

The Macman cometh...
Quotes FDR: "...a rendezvous with destiny."
IIRC, Ronaldus Magnus quoted that one rather a lot.

Ahh...
That's what I like about Matthew's laptop, internal 56K modem. Sure, it's dial-up...but it works when the lights are out! :-)
It's one of the one things I insist on...the battery must always be powered up. Learned that lesson when the power went out for those couple of days. After the roof of that house nearly hit me...

Corin - glad you made it, long drive, good time for the "LOTR on tape". Trucks are right handy.
We had some good rain Friday night. 5 to 6 in in a narrow band through downtown KC and the Plaza. The new flood improvements are working though, no massive flooding but several interstates were closed temporarily. We got an inch and half. Was a different story in 1998.
Sam & Ruthie - prayers that Frances takes a wrong turn and heads back out to see. Take care down there.
The light show just to the north of us only needed the backdrop of Mt. Doom to make it complete.

Oh, good. What was said?
GRR, still can't get Java to work. I'm taking it in tomorrow. The good news is I now have several names worked out for my prospective NaNoWriMo story, and I've decided that "modern fairy tale" is the way to go.

He tried to start a sentence with, "Contrary to what a disengenuous film maker would have you believe....."
The audience screamed for forever. Camera cut to the worm.
Then McCain said, "That line was so good, I'll use it again!"
More screams.
But to continue, he said: "Contrary to what a disengenuous film maker would have you believe, Iraq was not a paradise of peace...." and went on to list the horrors of Saddam's regime.
At some point Jabba the Moore held up his hand in a "L" for loser. Takes one to know one.

Well, we tried lashing it to this here post, and it alarm constantly without even walking around it.... vibrations in the ground? Cars going by? It's just way too sensitive! So we took it off the post and just laid it on the ground, and it alarmed as soon as it activated, every time.

I wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity on it. Not sure how it works well on a door in a house, seem my house moves ~that~ much walking around in it.
Any ideas?
