The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good afternoon!

Just got back from church and had some lunch, after stopping by the supermarket and buying a box of water. I don't like the way Frances is headin', so I'm gonna be sure to have all of the supplies I need before mass panic settles in.

Now I've got to actually get ~motivated~ enough to clean my betta tanks, bathe Jessi, do laundry, etc etc.

*sigh* I don't wanna do nuthin'. Cept mebbe sleep. :-)

Afternoon, all!

I've got a roast chicken going in the oven and playing on the patio whilst listening to the stoopid Cubs.

Got some properties from the real estate guy to sort through: the good news...they're older houses that don't have that generic look. The bad news....they all look to be closer to "town". But then more good news....wooded, larger lots. And more maybe bad news....is there enough sunlight for a vegetable garden?

I'm in Phase 2, but I ate em anyway! LOL! I found some really tasty sugar free maple flavored syrup made by Maple Grove Farms, the same folks that make the maple syrup we buy!

Heh...you DO know I'm sitting about a mile from there, right? Or in any case just down the road from 'em.

Their sugar free syrup is one of the best, IMO, though it tastes like...well, pancake syrup - Log Cabin or something. Not like real maple. But then, nothing does!

I still like it. Had some this morning. I made buckwheat pancakes with zucchini in 'em, which sounds weird but was really very good. I added cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter, and they tasted like vey rich zucchini bread, which I like! Yum. Had four big pancakes left over, so I have those frozen in twos to have for breakfasts later in the week.

Writing to MBY reminded me to tell you about coming up to VT again. Clare will be going to homeschool camp at Hulbert again. I can drive her up on 10/17, so maybe we can get together again for dessert or supper or something in Lebanon again! If we come up early enough, Clare will be with me, and I can take her to camp later.

Oh, we have to plan SOMEthing! I'd love to see you guys again. One catch, though...that's my birthday. But if I knew ahead of time, I should be able to do something with just the family earlier or later in the day. Hope it can work out!

Mmmm...roast chicken.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna have any decent vittles today. It's HOT, so Dad isn't making a meal out at the house, and I don't wanna make my house any hotter than it already is, either.

I should probably just go out and visit anyway, but driving anywhere takes effort. I don't feel like making any effort.

Lazy day...

Sounds like my day, too.

I wouldn't mind watching a movie, but I'm too broke to get one and the bothers aren't interested so I can't bribe 'em into renting one for me. *snif*

I think I'm gonna go see a movie this afternoon. If there's anything playing. I'm just kinda bored today.

I can always read. But I've been reading lots and I'm kinda wanting to do something else.

Just wish just about any "something else" didn't cost money, but that's the way it is. I'm soooo glad I get paid this week.

Too bad I don't have any of that special salt from the Shire.

It's 70 degrees right now. I think it's supposed to get up to 82.

OB, LSA: do you want any aloe?

Oh, yeah, but I think I came up with my NaNoWriMo story, if I can find a second plotline and answer a couple questions along the lines of "who cares"?

82 here, and very, very muggy.

I am NOT made for this kinda weather.

But I have no excuses for going anywhere air conditioned.

You still have anime, don't you? You should watch some of that... did I send you episode 44 or not? Episode 46 will be available sometime this week, so will some more Samurai 7 so I can make you a care package this week or next...

Hehehe...low 80's is just right for me although the lower the humidity, the better. We've got 64% right now.

But on the other hand, it doesn't feel like summer unless you've got 96%. :)

I've watched up to 43. Still have 44, so I could watch that. And I haven't started Samurai.

Think I'm going to make chili tonight, after it's cooled down a LITTLE bit. We're supposed to get major thunderstorms...that oughta help.

And when it's hot...if you can't beat it, make your own heat! I think it makes you feel cooler, though I couldn't say why.

Hehehe....

See...it's supposed to be real hot and humid during the summer so that by the end of August, you can't wait for it to cool off. Then you're ready for the cold of winter and vice versa.

Banners up!

Gidget likes the shade of it best of all...

Bay and the pony consider the message...

This is from the road going by outside the front fence! It actually looks bigger and more visible in person.... the lens shrinks it.

It looks like Bush has won over three more voters--LOL! Or is one of those the "dark horse candidate". . .?
